The Beginning
1/ Recently, $TRUMP generated substantial profits for numerous major investors, amounting to millions or even tens of millions. As a small retail trader, I also secured a respectable gain. Below is a concise recap of my journey.
On the morning of the token launch, I was traveling with a time difference and awoke after 1 PM Beijing time.
2/ Upon opening WeChat, I noticed all group chats had over 999 messages. After a quick scan, I prepared to withdraw funds and purchase $TRUMP. Due to slow SOL chain withdrawals on Binance, I ended up buying in fully at approximately $14.
3/ That afternoon, while traveling, I deposited all 5431.15 $TRUMP into Binance for wallet security and convenience.
At midnight, I saw news from “Formula” about Melania Trump launching a new token. I immediately accessed Binance and began selling $TRUMP at $66, reducing my holdings down to around $62 until fully liquidated.
4/ My rationale was that the new token would divert liquidity from the original, likely causing a significant pullback. Subsequent events validated this strategy.
Meanwhile, I used part of the proceeds to buy 400 $SOL, withdrawing twice from Binance in 200 SOL increments to prepare for purchasing $MELANIA.
Unfortunately, the first withdrawal processed quickly, but the second was delayed for nearly an hour, causing considerable frustration.
5/ After the withdrawals arrived, I acquired nearly 400 SOL worth of $MELANIA at an average price of about $5.
I then took a nap and awoke to find the price had surged to $13.
Typically, secondary tokens (“Dragon 2”) do not exceed 30% of the primary token’s (“Dragon 1”) value. At $13-$14, it was already over 25% of Dragon 1’s price at that time, so I sold all holdings around $10-$11 for approximately 840 SOL and redeposited to Binance.
6/ Holding this SOL and earlier proceeds, I repurchased $TRUMP at $41 and $44, accumulating a total of 10,405.7 tokens—nearly double my initial amount. This increase resulted from effective swing trading and profits from the secondary token during early hours.
7/ I then liquidated my $TRUMP holdings at $49.61 just before the speech. Although I missed the $63 peak when Robinhood announced its listing, I still felt satisfied with the outcome.
8/ Finally, I executed another swing trade from roughly $35.9 to $39.99. Before boarding my return flight, I sold all remaining $TRUMP and cashed out $573,703 U.
9/ My profits pale in comparison to major players, but considering my late entry at $14 due to travel and time differences, I believe I maximized my opportunities. Reflecting on it, there is minimal room for improvement.
