Ruben Kihuen: This callous Corporate Democrat needs to be replaced

Rep. Ruben Kihuen is a freshman congressman that represents Nevada’s 4th district, and campaigned on the idea that healthcare is a “basic human right.” Seemingly, he should be an ally in the fight for single-payer, but has yet to cosponsor H.R. 676. When confronted about this by a mother who lost her daughter due to a lack of insurance, he looked her in the eyes and rejected her plea. His constituents, however, weren’t too happy about that and quickly put him in his place.

Democrat Who Rejected a Mother's Single-Payer Plea Now Being Primaried by Her

Self-proclaimed "progressive" Democratic representative Ruben Kihuen of Nevada's 4th district was confronted by constituents during a town hall back in May. One constituent in particular, Amy Vilela, asked him to cosponsor H.R. 676 in an effort to move us closer towards single-payer. It's an issue that's important to her because after her daughter couldn't provide proof of medical insurance at the emergency room, she didn't receive the treatment she needed and died.

Amy told Rep. Kihuen her story, and he still looked her in the face and rejected her plea for single-payer. After thousands of phone calls were made to his office, he has yet to cosponsor H.R. 676 and is ignoring his constituents.

But Amy Vilela, the mother he dismissed, is not easily dissuaded. She will be running for congress, in an attempt to take his seat. In this special announcement video, Amy talks about her campaign platform, and why she's not taking no for an answer when it comes to Medicare for All.
