Investigadores de India han desarrollado un microscopio plegable fabricado con papel y kit químico de detección, con aplicación para teléfonos inteligentes, con lo cual se puede detectar en 10 segundos la Malaria o Paludismo.

La prueba se hace con una gota de sangre tomada de la punta del dedo, la cual se coloca en el miscroscópio de papel y mediante la cámara del teléfono se puede tomar la imagen de la muestra de sangre más los químicos del kit; con la aplicación se envían los datos, y son procesados en un servidor central para detectar la presencia de células de Malaria o Paludismo.

Los resultados se transmiten de vuelta al paciente remoto, en cuestión de segundos, con una precisión del 90% y el médico registrado en la base de datos, puede prescribir el tratamiento en consecuencia.

Researchers in India have developed a folding microscope made of paper and chemical detection kit, with application for smartphones, which can detect Malaria in 10 seconds.

The test is done with a drop of blood taken from the tip of the finger, which is placed in the paper miscroscope and by the camera of the phone can take the image of the blood sample plus the chemicals in the kit; with the application the data is sent and processed in a central server to detect the presence of Malaria cells.

The results are transmitted back to the remote patient, within seconds, with an accuracy of 90% and the doctor registered in the database, can prescribe the treatment accordingly.
