About Pilates

in #healthyesterday

Greetings, active travelers!

It's been around four years already that I've been doing Pilates weekly, and it's helped me immensely. You may judge me because of it if you'd like, there's really no way for me to do anything about it; and I truly don't care.

I'm really tired after this monday, physically and mentally, but both in a good way. For the latter, since I've fortunately worked a lot today, due to an unusual number of projects blossoming; and my body is tired because Pilates is no joke.

I've never liked exercising in gyms, and I've always been more of a sports guy than a muscle builder. But time passes and we grow older, so I need to strengthen myself in order to keep producing without my back hurting too much. But not only that, the feelings that the hormones cause after a workout are indeed really nice. It's just sad that it's so tiring to get to the end part... I'm getting more tired just from thinking about it.

Our body is our true home in this Universe. I know taking care of it is not even close to being simple or easy, but it's necessary. The great Doctor Drauzio Varella, one of the most famous m.d.s in Brasil, stated once that "nothing is more important than your body; you cannot take care of your kids nor work if your body is not taken care of".

And, well, we've only get the opportunity of having one body, at least that's what science tells us. So we need to be gentle with the one we've got. And as much tiring and difficult to practice it might be, we need to make regular physical activities to keep the body healthy.

I wish I went to Pilates three times a week, but I only managed to go twice, or one-and-a-half times a week, on average. I wish I still practiced tennis too, but it's unfortunately not the right moment for it. But I keep planning, and I'll keep trying my best to care of me.

If yesterday's post was a bit overwhelming, today I tried to practice my mindfulness and keep going, one moment at a time. Maybe you can also try that for yourself. It's not simple, too. But we all can try. Take care, always.
