Cutting down on Sugar completely

in #health2 months ago

This has been my long wish to cut down on sugar completely for an extended period of time. Not that I have any health issues but I still want to do this. Till my 50th I absolutely had no health issues and now also I do not have but there are some early signs of Thyroid antibodies and Diabetes showed up lately and that has really tensed me up. Some months back I had got my blood work done and the result showed that I was pre-diabetic and there was a rise in my thyroid anti-bodies, it was a big concern for me, because there is a family history of diabetes, so there are good chances of me having it. Again I am not a fan of allopathy medicines so I try all the natural ways to work on every condition for my-self.

Thankfully I have my son, who practices functional medicine and he helped me with a protocol which is a mix of supplements, diet and life-style change, which helped me a lot. I got my diabetes test done a few days back and the result is amazing. I am back to normal from the pre-diabetic range. In the past few months, I did follow some very strict rules for myself on my sugar and carbs in-take. I cut down by almost 80% and it helped. My aim is to cut down completely so that I am able to maintain good health for a long time.

All these processed junk food, packed juices, aerated drinks, muffins, donuts and these kinds of things have never been a problem for me to resist because I do not like them in the first place. The only thing that I cannot stop myself to is the Chocolate, which I am extremely fond of and I can have in large quantity also. I can have a 1/2 kg cake at one go or a full big bar of chocolate at one time. These past few months, I tried to completely cut it out but I could not, even at the cost of my health.

10 years back I could eat absolutely anything without any botheration, but now I see every label and ingredient and then only consume. 4 days in a week I follow the one meal diet a day and absolutely clean home food. Normally, Thursday to Saturday I go light on myself as it's weekend time. This is helping me to balance between my urges and what needs to be done for my best health. I still have not developed that will-power to completely stop on my chocolate cravings. I remember my mother-in-law, she had kidney problems and she was not supposed to eat certain foods but she could not stop her-self and I would be very annoyed at times, thinking why she does not have control over her cravings. At that time I had no botheration of what I was eating so it was easy for me to judge, but now I do realize how difficult it must have been for her.

I am doing things to bring down my Thyroid antibodies count also, the next medical examination will be done in Aug, let's see how I progress on it.
