"My Relationship With Sleep".
Hello Steemians, it is nice to have you all on my blog today. I will be sharing my experience on sleep and insights on the importance of adequate sleep and the disadvantages of not having adequate sleep. Sleeping helps to restructure the body and enable efficiency and sustainability, and we are advised to have adequate sleep to increase our lifespan.
How many hours of sleep do you usually get each night, and do you think it’s enough?
It has been said by scientists that humans are supposed to have eight hours of sleep. Regularly, I ensure that I have eight hours of sleep, but some days I have seven hours of sleep. Sleeping is good for a healthy lifestyle and a long lifespan. Whenever I don't have enough sleep at night, I sleep in the afternoon. This is because the body has to have eight hours of sleep. No doubt sleeping at night cannot be compared to afternoon sleep. This is because the night is the proper time to have a good rest, which is usually peaceful and less disturbing than sleeping in the afternoon. I am sure that my immune system requires just eight hours because after I have slept for that particular time, I don't feel sleepy anymore.
Do you follow any sleep routine (like reading, meditation, avoiding screens)?.
To keep my eyes off the screen, I make sure that I read and also assist my brothers in doing their homework and teaching them the topics that they didn't understand. To avoid the screen, which can lead to eye damage, reading is one of the major options that helps our brain function well and brings out accurate results. Another thing which I love to do to stay away from the screen is help my brothers with their academic pursuits, which also helps me learn new things.
Apart from these things, I also go on a walk to the local Field in my area to have a beautiful glance at nature, which helps me connect with friends and also improves my social well-being and behavior, enabling me to freely communicate with people. Apart from that, going to the field also helps me to clear my mind off worries and also develop a new strategy for solving and worrying too much, I get to laugh and share my good times with friends, and also feel at ease.
What disturbs your sleep the most? (noise, stress, mobile, late-night eating, etc.)
Two major things disturb my sleep. These are late-night eating and my smartphone. The reason for this is that my mother and I have to go to the farm, and sometimes return mainly by 4:00 a.m. When she comes back, she will be stressed out and require some rest before she begins to cook the meal that the family will consume at night.
My mobile phone also disturbs my sleep because I have only 7:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. to charge it up and make use of it, especially when I have to do some things online. I would have done the necessary things during a good hour, but that is the only time that I have to charge my smartphone every day, because we don't have electricity, and those at the PHCN (POWER HOLDING COMPANY OF NIGERIA) don't regularly provide electricity to my area.
Tell us about the negative impacts of not getting enough sleep and the positive impacts of getting enough sleep on our health.
Not having adequate sleep harms our health. Not having a good night's rest can lead to memory loss and a lack of decision-making skills before the brain has recovered from the day's stress. Lack of sleep also disturbs our mood, leading to depression, anxiety, and trauma. Sleeping helps the immune system recover from its duties; not having adequate sleep can lead to obesity, diabetes, and cardiovascular disease.
Not having a good night's rest can lead to a weakened immune system, making the body more prone to illnesses, which can lead to sudden death. Sleeping is like receiving a medicine that can help us wake the body to perform effectively, looking sleepy, and also affecting coordination, reaction time, and balance of the body.
Positive Impacts of Taking Enough Sleep |
---|
Having adequate sleep is important for our health and can help to improve long-lasting memory and enhance our problem-solving skills. Having adequate sleep can also lower the risk of developing diseases such as obesity, diabetes, and body pain, including headaches. We can positively regulate our mood by having adequate sleep which can improve emotions and reduce stress.
Sleep is also required for a healthy immune system, which can help fight and combat diseases, preventing us from having chronic disease and staying healthy every step of the way. Having a good sleep helps us to always stay physically fit, which is of great benefit to our overall health and well-being. Aiming for 7-9 hours of sleep each night can have a significant impact on overall health and well-being.

It's great that you're clear about the pros and cons of not sleeping because we need to know the whys and wherefores of things. Helping your siblings with activities keeps their minds active, so I congratulate you because you keep yourself busy in a way.
Thank you for the invitation.
Success.
Many blessings..🙏🏻
Thanks a lot ma.
