One of them is Aceh, which is famous for its world-famous Gayo coffee. In Aceh, there is also a coffee blend known as sanger coffee. The characteristic of Acehnese sanger coffee is the composition of the coffee that is added with a lot of condensed milk in the mixture. It turns out that this coffee blend that has been popular since the 1990s has a unique fact behind its presentation. Arabica and robusta coffee seeds first entered the province of Aceh in 1696. Since the colonial era, coffee planting has been carried out massively in Aceh, now there are two main coffee-producing areas, namely Ulee Kareng. Named as the best coffee producing region, Aceh also has its own coffee drinking tradition.

But there is a unique habit of coffee drinking culture in Aceh, as a mixture, Acehnese people add condensed milk to their cup of black coffee. So that the taste will be sweet and legit with a brownish color. The meaning of the name 'sanger' which is added to this typical Acehnese coffee is a pun from young people. Originally, the coffee concoction was known as sanggeng coffee which means 'stupid' coffee, because the amount of milk is more than the coffee. However, because the amount of coffee is small, the price is much cheaper than other coffees. In 1998, when the province of Aceh was also affected by the severe economic crisis, only sanger coffee was the most affordable for students and other general public.

A number of students during the economic crisis asked the coffee shop owner to set sanger coffee as their permanent menu. A Unique Concoction, making sanger coffee is no different from other milk coffees. The main ingredients are black coffee and condensed milk which are more affordable for the community. The coffee beans used are roasted at a very dark roast level or very ripe until they are blackish in color. The aim is to highlight the bitter taste of the coffee brew. Then add condensed milk about 1/8 cup or according to taste. The black and bitter coffee becomes sweeter with condensed milk which is also mixed in large quantities.
