There is hardly any person who doesn’t drink coffee! Of many beverages out there, coffee is in the second position on the list of beverages after tea. It has some health benefits. A regular & moderate coffee consumption is associated with a lower risk of type 2 DM, heart disease, and in some cases, premature death!

But, do we need to think about the timing of coffee consumption- morning, evening, or night- to get the maximum benefits? A study indicates that! The study was published in the European Heart Journal. It revealed that the morning coffee drinkers are in a better position in having a decreased risk of some health conditions!

The study period was from 1999 to 2018, over 19 years!! The study population included 40,725 adults aged 18 years and above. They were categorized into three:

  • Morning coffee drinkers (from 4 a.m. to 11:59 a.m)
  • Afternoon coffee drinkers (from 12 p.m. to 4:59 p.m.), and
  • Evening coffee drinkkers (from 5 p.m. to 3:59 a.m.)

The findings suggested that morning coffee drinkers enjoyed a sixteen percent lower risk of any-cause premature death. They also experienced a thirty-one percent reduced risk of cardiovascular death!! Those who drank coffee throughout the day didn’t experience a similar risk reduction!

For individuals contemplating the best time to savor their coffee, drinking it in the morning might provide extra health advantages. Nonetheless, it’s crucial to recognize that this study indicates a correlation rather than conclusive evidence of causation. Therefore, if you’re thinking about the ideal timing for coffee intake, this research could offer some useful insights.
