Blood Transfusion, The Vampires Diaries; My Reflections & Churning Questions
It's another day of reflection, a bag full of thought can into my mind as my dad's aid in the hospital laboratory walked into his office, Sir, we have no blood left, that sound as if he said "someone is about to die", his report went thus, "since Jehovah witness don't collect blood from others, the surgeon said we should look for an alternative blood from their relatives, already he has about 2 pines and he needs about 4 pines, and also the donors we called from your female assistant hasn't yet arrived, if they come the blood will amount to 2 pines, so currently with all the blood distribution and appropriate circulation for transfusion we have no blood left but since this is weekend people may not be trooping in that much let's how it goes.
With this I had many questions and reflections churning in my mind. One of those reflections was about the scarcity of blood and the movie "VAMPIRE DIARY". I thought of that moment when Stephan was made to go back to the old ways of drinking human blood and how that affected the hospital blood bank. That was more than a threat to people's lives; he didn't want to hurt people, but indirectly I could imagine how many people died because there was not blood for transfusion. It wasn't just a pint of blood; it was a whole refrigerator stocked with blood.
These questions may be quite funny; let's reason together. Though I am not in medical field, before now I have been taught a few things about genes, blood etc, Have you ever thought of this?
Someone's behaviour changing due to the blood that was transfused into them – can someone who was never known to be a thief begin stealing because of the blood that was transfused into them?
Why should there be a scarcity of blood in hospitals where they are no vampires?
Do you think you can contribute to others' lives by transfusing blood for a token or nothing at all?
How much is a pint of blood sold for in your country?
I actually respect people's choices once I understand the rationale behind them. I would love to call on my friends @bossj23, @alli001 and @ngoenyi to give me reasons why Jehovah's Witnesses don't accept blood from others; maybe some reasons are above.
I would love my friends @dexysluz, @soulfuldreamer and @stef1 to help clarify some things above. I am actually scared of the 1st question, especially when people say that something runs in the bloodline or is in their blood. Though the blood transfused into an individual doesn't completely superimpose the person's original blood, since it gives life to the person, what kind of life will be alive in this person?
What does the blood bank look like? Is it a refrigerator with blood bags?
If you love this inquisitive article that sparks engagement and brings imagination to play as reality, don't forget to give me a thumbs up and a follow.
Thanks for the mention and invite @nsijoro. I have read through your thought-provoking article and questions there in. But I will like to respond to the one that concerns me. I respect people's view on blood. Everyone has reasons for whatever thing they choose to do. When it comes to blood transfusion, it is a matter of religious issues rather than medical issues. Read below for explanations on my stand.
The reasons can be found in the articles I have shared their links below. Ask further questions if you aren't satisfied with the answers given.
