Sometimes we do small things that look normal but in real these are very bad for our teeth. These are called bad oral habits. Mostly these habits starts from childhood, like sucking thumb and biting nails. If we do not stop them, these y can make our teeth grow in wrong way. Our teeth can become crooked, crowded or not fit together. Some habits also come later in life. It is important to know these habits, stop them early and keep our mouth and teeth healthy. Let's learn more about them.

◉ 😁Name the most common bad habits we acquire as children?

Some bad habits of children are thumb sucking, nail biting, mouth breathing and biting lips. Put whatever we have in our hand into mouth is another common habit we acquired as child.

Thumb sucking pushes the front teeth forward. Nail biting can hurt teeth and gums. Mouth breath can dry out mouth and disturb face shape. Tongue thrusting pushing the tongue against the teeth and also move the teeth. Pencil biting, toys or lips can damage teeth slowly. These habits seem small, but these can change how the teeth grow.

◉ 😁Tell me if you have had any bad oral habits and how you acquired them.

Yes, I had a bad habit when I was younger. My elder sister and brother make fun of my this habit(Hahahaha). I used to bite my nails all time. I started this when I was 5 to 6 years old. I did it when I was bored or nervous.

I was not know that it is very bad for my teeth. Slowly, it made my front teeth a little uneven. My parents and dentist told me to stop, but it was very hard to me. My grandmother used a bitter cream and some time red chilli fluid on my nails. Nail polish also can be used for this.
