Celebrating our Sign-out as Steemians who Started and Ended Together in the University
A day after our sign-out at the university, which I made a post about, we decided to sign out officially by celebrating our achievements as Steemians. If you're a university student and you're still active on Steemit, it is grace on your path, as you were able to combine academics and finances together to avoid outweighing other aspects of your life.
It's quite interesting to know that the 15 Steemians in my department were introduced by me. I was their mentor even though a few slagged due to their inability to attain balance in the 4 walls of the university. So we signed out together on the 21st of July, 2025. What a pleasant experience! Remembering those years we strived as content writers, struggling to create diary games with pictures and all of that.
This is our final year in school, and the possibility of seeing each other physically as before is slim, as we would be done with school by then. So we had to share one last moment together and make it all fun and memorable. I actually thought of this and then decided to fix a date, but unknown to me, a few Steemians wanted to travel to their hometown the next day. Some had never travelled, like @arella1. To this effect, I decided to host the gathering after sign-out day so we can share food memories together.
This is the invitation I dropped on the group to all Steemians in my department who signed out yesterday. It came in late, but we didn't have a choice. We invited Steemians to the central location since a few of them invited for the sign-out couldn't make it because of the rain. This was an opportunity for them to sign on our shirts. @okere-blessing couldn't come but supported the movement financially. I still thank her for her contribution.
Making Purchases at a mall adjacent to the party's venue |

The gathering was slated to be held by 3pm at Akmag hotel. @nsojoro, @dwings, @us-andrew went to the mall to purchase some things for the Steemians we invited. There was no host, though we gave the attribute to Steemit for being the virtual host of the gathering. Collectively, we made joint contributions financially to make a few purchases.
3 packed cakes | 5700 naira | 28.2 steems |
---|---|---|
10 pieces | 2000 | 10 steems |
5 sachets of yoghurt | 750 | 3.7 |
1 loaf of bread | 1400 | 7 |
Total | 9850 naira | 48.8 steems |
While making payments for these items bought, a stranger supported us with 5000 naira, saying he was once a student and he knows what it is to sign out from the university. How did he know I signed out? I was in my sign-out t-shirt. I was so grateful for the support, and this gave us enough money to spend on drinks at the venue.

We then left the shopping mall to its exterior to wait for others whom we directed to meet us there. While waiting, I decided to take some photos. @vicvine5, who wasn't opportune to sign on my shirt, made good use of the opportunity she had at the moment, and I allowed her to do so because she's my mentee.
I made good use of the waiting time to take some modelling shots. The following pictures show me and my creativity at work. I took pictures with @us-andrew as he couldn't attend the sign-out event at school the previous day.

The wait was over; we then left for the venue. They welcomed me greatly because I'm a regular customer there. A few others signed on my t-shirt before we headed for the poolside to celebrate our little achievement as a graduate, no longer that undergraduate you knew.
Commencement of the event |

I happened to be the MC of the event. After setting the table with drinks and snacks, the event started properly. I started out by a direct introduction of myself and then gave the microphone to others to do the same. I happen to be the one who mentored everyone seated here except for some undergraduates who joined us in the sign-out party.
We introduced ourselves and then told our story, how we joined Steemit and the challenges we faced. My own experience was just so shocking because I traded having a first class for balancing my finances and physical life, for which Steemit was of great help. I took pictures of all the graduate and undergraduate Steemians who were present. Their usernames are

After the brief introduction, we played a game called Complete the lyrics. A song would be played and stopped. Whoever the mic was handed to must complete the lyrics of the song played. It was funny and exciting to know that some Steemians don't listen to secular music. Some who knew couldn't get the lyrics right. I think we had a winner in person in the form of @usoro01 and an undergraduate winner in person in the form of @vicvine25. They both won the challenge. We then moved to our official signing by usernames.
We were of good numbers. We then started our own official sign-out with our username. A video was made where we'll have to walk up to the camera and then write our username on the paper given. We all did this to show that Steemians on Steemit signed out officially, both physically and virtually. After all graduates were done writing their usernames, the undergraduates who came to celebrate with us gave us a congratulations expression by clinging knuckles together.
It was one of a kind, I must admit. Not your regular kind of meetup. We then started making use of what was on the table and enjoying the moments as well. Fun activities were done, jokes cracked and the like. We then moved on to the next game, which was an eating and drinking competition. @usoro01 and @bee5 opted to participate in this competition of eating soya. The first to finish the soya wins, and we had a winner in the person of @bee5 as shown in the video below.

The guys also had their turn, but it was exclusively drinks. They were made to drink one chilled bottle of malt. The first to empty the content wins. @basil20 and @edu-chemist took this personally. They were the contestants. @basil20 has a good strike as he gulped everything without feeling an inch of cold. He would have won, but his bottle had a little content of malt. So @edu-chemist emerged the winner of the competition.
I would have done it round, but we were out of funds, as their drinks were way too expensive. After all the fun activities were done, we made our way to the dance floor where we danced, and then the party was over.
I expended a total of #21k in naira, which is 104 steems, just for drinks and a few soya meat. The joy and moments shared were just on different levels. We then took a night photograph together and departed to our various homes. I thanked everyone for coming and making the celebration a memorable one.
