✅ How can people be made aware of the harmful effects of plastic? What methods do you personally follow to spread awareness?
The pollution caused by plastic bags and plastic items has been getting severe day by day. It has caused land pollution, marine pollution, and wildlife damage. Not only do these damages, but also pose a human health hazard, but sometimes can also cause climate change. important role in soil and water contamination, leading to the destruction of the natural environment.
People can be made aware of the harmful effects of plastic pollution using several methods, such as education through impactful information. This approach targets individuals who are educated and informed, with the belief that many others will follow their lead. This method also includes visual infographics, videos, documentaries, and emotional stories.
Sometimes targeted campaigns can also be impactful, and make people aware of the harmful effects of plastic. Because polio campaign were started in the same manner and they remain very impactful and therefore campaigns of harms of plastic bags in schools and colleges, on public places and social media using special hashtag like hashtag plastic kill hashtag ban plastic hashtag reduce plastic hashtag make the environment free like using these hashtag we can make the people aware through targeted campaigns.
Emotional storytelling always impacts our emotions in depth. Making emotional documentaries and emotional stories, and emotional pictures, like many life insurance companies do. This is seen in Pakistan and also in India, in television ads to urge people to register their life insurance. So if we use the same way to raise awareness the people about plastic effects on the environment, then it must result in exceptional outcomes.

✅ Is there any ban on plastic in your area? If yes, how effective has it been?
Yes, plastic bags have been banned in my area since 2019. Not in my area, but in the whole province of Punjab and in the whole of Pakistan. Since their ban, it was seen that many government institutions have taken strict action against them, and tons of plastic bags have been reduced. The commercial industries were banned, and strict actions were taken to avoid plastic pollution in the environment. But nowadays, in 2025, this ban is also active in the whole of Punjab and Islamabad, while the enforcement effectiveness is weak. In all areas of Punjab, plastic bags are used widely in my area, and probably they are widely used in the whole province. Therefore, these bands are less effective. Truly seeing they seem to be no more effective but one change that I have been noticed is that food company has started to introduce plastic straws on their juice bottles and hard paper made bottles of fresh fruit juices which seems that the effectiveness was not failed but followed by some companies At the local level, these bands seem to be effective no more.
The overall conclusion is that this ban is not as effective as it should be. Even though it is going to be a weak day by day, and the government is not paying special attention to this in my area, because plastic bags are widely used in almost every product that people buy from the market, including fruits, vegetables, and other household items. There seems to be no difference. A little difference is present, but that is still negligible.

✅ If you were made the mayor of your city for one day, what three strict actions would you take to reduce plastic usage?
🏛️ 1. Immediate Shutdown of All Illegal Plastic Bag Manufacturers
🔨 Action:
Launch a team to shut down all the illegal plastic bag manufacturers in the whole city.
Imposing hefty fines (50,000 +) in the area to supply the plastic bags and unauthorized plastic products (toys, bottles, etc.).
🎯 Why:
- Because it is important to kill the root cause to eradicate the evil.
🏪 2. Enforce “No Plastic Safety, No Business” Policy on Shops
🧾 Action:
Just like the Covid-19 campaign (no mask, no entry), I will force the small business to "no plastic safety, no business" policy.
Conduct surprise raids to seal the local business for violating the policy.
Launch QR codes or helplines for complaints about violating the rules.
♻️ 3. Plastic Buyback Booths + Community Incentives
🏢 Action:
I will surely set certain ways to reward the people for not using the plastic bags and products, replacing them with safe carriers, providing them with certain rewards, like:
✨ Food coupons
✨ Mobile credits
✨ Metro/bus passes
🚨 Bonus Add-On: Public Shaming + Reward System
🟥 Red List (Violators)
🟩 Green List (Eco-Champions)
Blacklisted and invstigated
Rewarded with appreciations
Fined Heavily
Given Free Media Coverage
Ask to educate themselves
Invited to major events
