Greetings to all my friends in the community, and thank you for suggesting this topic!
You should know that I live in Italy, specifically in a northern region called Veneto, which is among the most urbanized in the country. Here, there are fairly large cities (but not metropolises) surrounded by urban agglomerations (municipalities and their hamlets) that are only a few kilometers apart. Therefore, there aren't many small urban centers that can be considered remote and isolated, with the exception of a few mountain villages, which are depopulating. People prefer to live either in the city or in a nearby urban center for easier access to services (schools, hospitals, shops, sports and cultural centers) and to be close to their workplace.

I was born and raised in Soave, a relatively quiet medieval village that has grown over the last forty years, with new houses built and new commercial and industrial businesses opening. For study or vacation reasons, I've also had the opportunity to live for short periods in various Italian cities. I've currently chosen to live in a relatively small urban center surrounded by greenery,
but with easy access to public transportation (bus and train) and, by car, to major roads, allowing me to quickly reach the cities of
Verona and Vicenza.
I therefore chose to live in a small urban center, but without being too isolated and without the risk of having significant difficulties accessing certain services. Indeed, in Italy there are many truly charming small towns and ancient villages, with magnificent landscapes, surrounded by nature, but they are difficult to reach by car because there are no adequate roads and they are not connected by rail. Other disadvantages of living in these isolated towns include, for example, the difficulty of having a good internet connection and the lack of nearby healthcare facilities or well-stocked supermarkets. Traveling for travel, school, and work can be time-consuming and expensive if you live too far from the city. Therefore, I believe it is important to choose to live in a small urban center that is well-connected and not too isolated, because in this case you can enjoy the benefits of living outside the city without experiencing enormous inconveniences. Among the advantages of living in a village are, for example, being able to breathe fairly clean air, enjoying silence and tranquility, and being able to go for walks alone and with few people around through the fields and hills. It's also easier to
obtain a new, technologically advanced home at a more affordable price, because in Italian cities there are many historic buildings that cannot be renovated or demolished and
are therefore outdated, uncomfortable, unhealthy, and inefficient in terms of energy.
Living in the city has advantages: you have quicker access to shops, restaurants, services, cultural and sports centers, places to study and work of various kinds, and you have a more active life. You're constantly in contact with people from all over the world and it's easy to make lots of friends.
Furthermore, you can more easily participate in various events. However, there are some things I can't stand about the city and that have convinced me to live outside, in a small town: the noise, the dirt, the confusion, the high cost of living and housing, the fact of having to live in large apartment buildings with many people, the concentration of crime and decay,
the air pollution (which in the cities of Veneto is truly unbreathable!).
Therefore, I believe that living outside the city, in small urban centers, is preferable, even if you often have to use the car or waste a little more time getting around, and even if life can seem less stimulating. It's fun to go to the city to have some great experiences or to
meet friends, but in the evening I always feel the desire and need to retreat to my apartment immersed in the silence of the green countryside!
Thanks for reading my post, and good luck to all the participants!
