Thediarygame. A day at my friend's sister marriage .
I got up very early in the morning, as I have a good habit of rising early. The chirping birds had come to the window of my room and started making some annoying noises, which made me get out of bed. I straightaway went to purify myself and headed for the morning prayers at the nearby mosque. Upon reaching there, I joined the prayers, and after spending a peaceful one and a half hours in the mosque, I made a supplication and then returned home.
I started my day with peace, positivity, and a strong vibe, feeling blessed. Upon reaching my place, I immediately got involved in some gardening work. The lawn looked good but needed weeding, so I removed the weeds and placed the plants in their appropriate spots.
Once done with the gardening, I set off for a walk towards the orchards. Not only did I burn some calories, but I also helped my lungs breathe in the fresh air and embraced the aroma of the ripening fruits. The fragrance carried the sense of the hard work farmers had put in throughout the year, reflecting their sweat and effort spent on various farming tasks.
After finishing my morning walk, I returned home and took a bath. I then joined my parents, who were already waiting in the dining room. As I had been posted in a different area, at the district headquarters, for the past few days, I had to set off early for work. Since the workplace is more than 40 km away, I needed to leave early to ensure I reached on time. I couldn’t afford to leave a bad impression on the employees there, as I’m usually quite punctual and generally reach well within time.
Today was my friend’s sister’s wedding day, and I had to go there later in the day. So I was quick to reach the office, finished my tasks earlier than usual, and left for my friend’s place to help out with any kind of assistance and celebration. I completed the task of data entry that had been assigned for the day by around 2 PM and then left for the wedding.
On my way back, I got stuck in a traffic jam for a while, and it was already quite late when I reached home. I didn’t stop at home for long—just had a quick cup of tea and left for my friend’s place again. I got straight to work, helping with different arrangements crucial to the success of the wedding ceremony. I made sure everything was in place and all necessary preparations were completed before serving meals to the guests.
The next day, an important part of the marriage here in the valley, we ensured everything needed was available. Late at night, the bride had to be presented before the guests arrived, and a little mehendi had to be applied, which is treated more like a function and a part of the marriage ceremony here.
My friend, who was the bride’s brother, needed to be there with her. Unfortunately, he was unable to handle the emotional pressure. Within just 5 to 10 seconds of staying beside his sister, he became unconscious and started pointing toward his chest, feeling slight pain in the diaphragm area.
We had to take him aside immediately. I feared he might have had a heart attack and was extremely worried. I asked some known people to take him to the doctor. Fortunately, our friend recovered within a few minutes, and I was relieved.
It was very late at night when all this happened. I was quite shaken by the situation and frightened to see my friend in such a condition. After the mehendi was applied to the bride’s hands, all the functions were over by around 1 AM, and I finally returned home to get some sleep.
