My Section 9-Cuyag for this school year had our first ever PTA meeting at our classroom here in Mactan National High School. It is marked as a significant beginning wherein me as the advisers of the kids together with their parents united to share a common goal which is the success of every learners. With a hopeful hearts and their best smiles, the classroom was filled with the supportive parents ready to listen to our discussion and how were we going to improve and discover the skills of each students. They were all eager to learn and was ready to accept the task I will be giving to them.

As the class adviser of their kids, I welcomed them with gratitude and appreciation. I appreciated them because they were so busy at home and in their respective work, they were still able to be their on our meeting and showed support to their kids.

We started our meeting with a prayer then the things we will be talking or our Agenda. But before we formally started our meeting, I first introduce myself and a little background of myself. After my short introduction, I then let each parent introduce theirself, their address, the name of their kid and 1 discription. I enjoyed hearing their answers especially how they described their kids. Of course, as parents we always appreciated our kids and we always see the good things about them. Yes, all their descriptions were positive.

The active and jolly parents made the meeting more meaningful. They shared concerns, asked questions and gave some brilliant suggestions. Their involvement indeed made a positive energy to our meeting especially the way they showed support to our classroom projects.

On the picture above, it was our classroom presidents. I let him have a meeting with his classmate and agree for the things they needed for the whole year round. And they just requested some basic project because we already had fan. They requested this to their parents:

  • rewiring of the tv part
  • new set of window curtain
  • mop
  • broomsticks for the toilet
  • toilet cleaner

The above pictures were the pictures of our parents officers. I then let the PTA President stand and say something and will precide as to how are they going to accept the challenge given by their kids. And I am so grateful because they accepted it whole heartedly in fact, we were not able to have any money collections because there were parents donated each of the things asked by their kids.

For me, the meeting I had was not just about reports but it was about partnership. I didnt see each parents as parents alone, I saw them as partners who will help me discover and let their kids improve in a better way.

As the meeting is about to close, there were purpose and we danced with the same music. We all carried the same vision which is to guide, support and nurture them to the best student they can.

Hare Krishna mam! Your post reminded me of my nephew's Parents teachers meetings as I used to attend his PTA meeting when I was in Jharkhand.

It is a good collaboration with the parents mam so that they will also be involved in the learning community of our pupils.
