Town Hall Supermarket, Comilla

Comilla Town Hall Supermarket is the historical supermarket of our Comilla city. In 1885, the then Maharaja Birchandra Dhirendranath Manikya, a philanthropist, gave land to build the Comilla Town Hall and a market. Although the Comilla Town Hall was built, the market was completed in 1989. Dhirendranath Library was built in the Comilla Town Hall. The market is four-storeyed. There are about a hundred cloth shops on the ground floor. There are fifty mobile servicing and accessories shops on the second floor. There is a residential hotel named Sonali on the third and fourth floors. I have shown the location of the market below with the Steem-atlas pin code and Google Plus code.

When I was a child, I used to come from my village to shop at the Comilla Town Hall Super Market. It was previously known as the Hawkers' Market. The hawkers of Comilla city are allowed to sit at the Town Hall Super Market. The income from the market is spent on the development of the library. You can buy clothes at low prices in the clothes shops on the ground floor. The prices of clothes at the Town Hall Super Market are lower than those at other markets in Comilla city. I buy T-shirts, shirts, belts and children's clothes from the Town Hall Super Market.

There are four lanes on the ground floor of the market. The small shops sell mostly boys' t-shirts, pants and shirts. Many boys and girls from our villages in Comilla district come to the Town Hall Supermarket every day to shop. Especially during annual festivals like Eid, Puja, and New Year's Eve, Town Hall Supermarket is very crowded.
Cloth market
It is easy for the middle class to shop at Town Hall Supermarket because the prices are low. The shops in the market are small and dense, so fans have been installed in each lane to ventilate the air. At one time, Town Hall Supermarket was the most famous market for clothes in Comilla city. Currently, several modern model supermarkets have been built in Comilla city.

There are mobile servicing and mobile accessories shops on the second floor of Town Hall Supermarket. There are a few computer shops. Today I came to Town Hall Supermarket to get my wife's mobile serviced. I went to the second floor of the market and got mobile servicing done at a shop. The mobile servicing cost is less, and the quality is much better compared to other markets.

Town Hall Super Market is the first choice for students of schools, colleges and universities in Comilla city to buy mobile phones, services and mobile accessories. I walked around the entire market and saw my childhood memories. When I was young, I used to come alone from the village and shop at Town Hall Supermarket. There are several computer servicing and parts-selling shops in the market. I bought a desktop computer from Town Hall Supermarket in 2005.

Currently, due to the presence of several modern supermarkets in Comilla city, the demand for Town Hall Supermarket has decreased somewhat. However, those who need to shop on a low budget come to Town Hall Supermarket. There is a residential hotel called Sonali on the third and fourth floors. People who come to Comilla city from far away for travel and various purposes stay at Sonali Hotel to spend the night. The cost of staying overnight in the hotel is very low.

Town Hall Supermarket is located in front of the roundabout of Kandirpar, the heart of Comilla city. There are two parts here, one is the Town Hall and the other is the market. It is currently under the Comilla City Corporation. I am happy to review the old traditional market of our city.
