Ragunan Zoo is a tourist destination located south of Jakarta. Covering 127 hectares, the park is home to over 2,009 animals and over 20,000 trees.

Visiting Ragunan Zoo is like entering a miniature tropical forest. This is because it contains a rich biodiversity of high conservation value.

According to its official website, Ragunan Zoo, or Ragunan Zoo, was originally called "Planten en Dierentuin." Previously, this "zoo" was located in Cikini, Central Jakarta, and was established on September 19, 1864.

After independence, the name was changed to Cikini Zoo in 1949. However, as Jakarta developed, the area became unsuitable for wildlife.

So in 1964, preparations were made to move the Cikini Zoo to Pasar Minggu, South Jakarta. When it moved, the Cikini Zoo took its remaining animal collection, numbering over 450 animals, with it.

Ragunan Zoo was officially opened on June 22, 1966, by then-Governor of Jakarta, Ali Sadikin. Ali also changed the name of the Cikini Zoo to Ragunan Zoo.
