Bireuen Government Holds Taptu Ceremony and Torch Parade.

The Bireuen Regency Government (Pemkab) in Aceh Province held a Time Setting Ceremony (Taptu) and Torch Parade as part of the 80th Anniversary of Indonesian Independence Day on Saturday evening (August 16, 2025) in the courtyard of the Regent's Hall.

The ceremony was overseen by the Head of the Bireuen District Attorney's Office, H. Munawal Hadi, SH, MH. Also in attendance were the Regent of Bireuen, H. Mukhlis ST, members of the Regional Leadership Communication Forum (Forkopimda), heads of the Regional Government Work Units (SKPK), and hundreds of residents from various backgrounds.

During the ceremony, the Kajari of Bireuen symbolically lit the Taptu torch, which was then passed on to all participants. The torches were lit simultaneously by members of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), the Indonesian National Police (Polri), civil servants (ASN), students, and Scouts who were in the procession.

Following the ceremony, the torch parade was launched by the Regent of Bireuen, accompanied by the Chairman of the Regional People's Representative Council (DPRK), the Chief of Police, the Military District Commander (Dandim), and several other officials.

The parade participants began their journey from the courtyard of the Regent's Hall, along several streets around Bireuen City, and returned to the starting point. The torch parade covered approximately two kilometers.

The parade was lively and energetic. Hundreds of participants carried lit torches, creating an aesthetic yet inspiring display of national spirit.

The Taptu ceremony is a long-standing military tradition leading up to Independence Day. Its purpose is to increase the vigilance and preparedness of troops in carrying out their duties.

Meanwhile, the torch parade symbolizes the struggle and sacrifice of the heroes in the struggle for independence.

The Bireuen District Attorney emphasized the importance of this event as a reminder of history and a motivator for future generations.

"This activity aims to rekindle the fighting spirit of all levels of society, so that they will always remember the services of the heroes," said the District Attorney.

"We hope the community will continue to fight for the progress of the nation," said Bireuen District Attorney, Munawal Hadi.
