Thousands of Bireuen Residents Enthusiastically Watch the Carnival Parade Commemorating the 80th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia.
The Bireuen Regency Government, Aceh Province, held a Cultural Carnival Parade to celebrate the 80th Anniversary of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI) on Monday, August 18, 2025.
Thousands of Bireuen residents enthusiastically watched the Carnival Parade. The scorching sun did not dampen their enthusiasm for watching the carnival and celebrating the 80th anniversary of Indonesian Independence Day.
People filled Bireuen's city center from 12:00 p.m. Western Indonesian Time (WIB), and the parade route was packed with people before the event began. The parade route began at SMPN 1 Bireuen, crossing the Bireuen intersection to Jalan Takengon, a distance of over 1 km, and then back to the Bireuen Regent's Hall.
The road from in front of SMPN 1 Bireuen was packed with people on both sides. Some residents watched from the area around the Kota Juang monument and the Simpang Empat monument circle in Bireuen.
Roads within the regency were completely congested, while national roads were diverted to several other roads that had been marked with signs and guarded by police officers and the organizing committee.
The parade was launched by the Regent of Bireuen, H. Mukhlis ST, accompanied by the Deputy Regent, members of the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda), the Chair of the Regional National Crafts Council (Dekranasda), and others, east of the Regent's hall.
The parade, accompanied by a drum band, was led by the committee and passed the main stage in Bireuen's town square near the Kota Juang monument.
Participants moved one by one, starting with Kindergarten/Early Childhood Education (TK/PAUD) participants from 67 schools, all using four-wheeled, open-back vehicles.
After the Kindergarten level, 50 elementary schools/Islamic junior high schools (SD/MI) participated, followed by 15 junior high schools/Islamic junior high schools (SMP/MTS), and six senior high schools, Islamic senior high schools, and vocational high schools (SMA, MA, and SMK).
Ten drum bands also participated, with participants from Bank Aceh, the Bireuen Regency National Narcotics Agency (BNNK), the State Electricity Company (PLN), and others.
The carnival parade showcased a diverse range of creativity from each school. Several participants wore costumes designed from recycled materials such as glass mineral water bottles and similar items.
Some also wore kebaya dresses made from black plastic bags, others wore decorative dresses made from newspaper, and various other creative displays were beautifully and captivatingly displayed.
In addition to the colorful clothing from various media and other creative activities, the event drew a warm welcome from the thousands of Bireuen residents who filled almost every area of Bireuen City.
All participants passed through a stage of honor and received a wave from the Bireuen Regent and members of the Regional Leadership Communication Forum (Forkopimda).
The presence of thousands of residents was a special attraction for small vendors, especially beverage vendors, who also benefited from the good fortune. They brought their carts to the location, especially in the hot weather, where various types of beverages sold well. They were present along the roadsides along which the parade participants passed.
