12 Thousand Mangrove Seedlings Planted in Jangka Alue U Bireuen Pond Channels.
A total of 12 thousand mangrove seedlings were planted in the pond channel area of Gampong Jangka Alue U, Jangka District, Bireuen Regency, Aceh Province, Saturday (6/28/2025).
This activity involved dozens of local residents together with elements of the Bireuen Regency Government (Pemkab), Jangka Sub-district Head, Aceh Ocean Coral Foundation, and several other institutions.
The small mangrove seedlings with a height of around 25-30 cm were planted along the pond channel. This planting is part of the reforestation program and efforts to prevent coastal abrasion.
On that occasion, the Village Head (Keuchik) of Jangka Alue U, Ridwan, stated that his party was actively picking up various development programs from the sub-district to the district, including this mangrove planting program.
"Mangrove forests are very important for reforestation and preventing abrasion in pond areas. Now there is planting assistance, and we are implementing it as well as possible," he said.
Meanwhile, Jangka Sub-district Head, Alfian SSos, added that mangrove planting is very effective in preventing abrasion. He hopes that in the future all pond channels can be planted with mangroves as a whole.
In addition, Assistant II of Bireuen District Secretariat, Dailami SHut Mling, said that this program was agreed to be planted in pond channels.
However, he also reminded the public to understand that if in the future normalization or widening of channels is carried out, it may have an impact on the mangrove plants that have been planted.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Aceh Ocean Coral Foundation, Tajuddin, who implemented this program through funding from the Environmental Fund Management Agency (BPDLH), said that his party had previously succeeded in planting mangroves on the coast of Kuala Jeumpa, and they grew well.
According to Tajuddin, planting mangroves in Jangka Alue U is a continuation of their commitment to protecting the coastal environment, preventing abrasion, and supporting the greening program in Bireuen.
The symbolic mangrove planting activity was carried out together between residents, village officials, Jangka Sub-district Head, Assistant II of the District Secretariat, and representatives of other institutions in one of the pond area channels.
