Bireuen Elementary School Planned to Begin Operations on August 1, 2025.

The Elementary School in Bireuen is planned to begin operations in the 2025/2026 academic year and is targeted to be operational by August 1, 2025 at the latest.

The learning location will be centralized in the Benyot Vocational Training Center (BLK) building in Juli District, Bireuen Regency, Aceh Province.

Bireuen is one of several regencies/cities in Aceh designated as implementing the Elementary School program, under the coordination of the Indonesian Ministry of Social Affairs (Kemensos).

The Head of the Bireuen Regency Social Service (Dinsos), Ismunandar ST MT, told several media crews in Bireuen on Friday (July 11, 2025).

"Since the appointment, we have moved quickly to prepare the learning location, renovate the room, and recruit prospective students," said Ismunandar.

Currently, the Bireuen Social Services Agency is recruiting prospective students and completing the rehabilitation of classrooms.

Received information indicates that the national launch of the People's School program will take place soon. The Bireuen Regency Government continues to coordinate with the Ministry of Social Affairs to ensure smooth implementation. Various field preparations have been carried out, including cross-sector coordination.

In fact, the Bireuen Regent, along with the Deputy Regent, and several agency heads have personally visited the Benyot Vocational Training Center (BLK) to assess the readiness of the classrooms.

The implementation of the People's School program is based on Presidential Instruction No. 8 of 2025 concerning the Optimization of Poverty Alleviation and the Elimination of Extreme Poverty.

Furthermore, the Decree of the Minister of Social Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia No. 49/HUK/2025 concerning the Formation Team for the Implementation of People's Schools.

"The Bireuen Regency Government, together with the Social Services Agency, is in the initial stages of preparing classrooms and other facilities. The principal, teachers, and other personnel are currently being processed by the Ministry of Social Affairs," explained Ismunandar.

Furthermore, he added, prospective students must come from truly poor, disadvantaged families, and be orphans.

School students will be housed in dormitories, as the school is a boarding school, with all costs covered by the government.
