Bireuen Regent Opens 7th Indonesian Journalists Association (PWI) Conference in Bireuen Regency.
Bireuen Regent H. Mukhlis, S.T., officially opened the 7th Indonesian Journalists Association (PWI) Conference in Bireuen Regency, Aceh Province, on Wednesday (July 23, 2025) at the Bireuen Regency Secretariat Hall.
The theme of the event was "Smart Journalists, Quality Press," which is considered highly relevant to today's challenges in journalism.
In his remarks, Bireuen Regent H. Mukhlis emphasized the importance of PWI's existence as a national press forum in the region. He hoped that journalists affiliated with PWI Bireuen would maintain professionalism, understand the journalistic code of ethics, and work with integrity and objectivity.
The press plays a central role as the fourth pillar of democracy. Journalists are not merely conveyors of information, but also guardians of truth and balance in democratic life.
The conference resulted in Ariadi B Jangka being re-elected to lead the Indonesian Journalists Association (PWI) of Bireuen Regency for the 2025–2028 term. He was elected at the 7th PWI Bireuen Conference, held in the Bireuen Regency Secretariat Hall.
The election was conducted democratically through a voting system, with two candidates for chairman: Ariadi B Jangka and Fajrizal, known as Fajri Bugak. Of the 10 eligible voters, Ariadi secured 7 votes, while Fajrizal received 3.
In his remarks after being elected, Ariadi expressed his gratitude for the renewed trust placed in him to lead PWI Bireuen.
"Hopefully, PWI Bireuen can be even better in the future. I hope for the full support of all members to jointly advance this organization," he said.
Meanwhile, Fajri Bugak congratulated Ariadi B Jangka.
"Hopefully, under Ariadi's leadership, PWI Bireuen will be even better in the future," he said.
The PWI Bireuen Management for the 2025-2028 period includes the Chairperson, Ariadi B. Jangka, the Secretary, Rizanur, the Treasurer, Akhyar Rizki, and the Working Groups.
The 7th PWI Bireuen Conference also served as a momentum to strengthen unity among members and enhance the PWI's presence in Bireuen Regency.
Meanwhile, the PWI Bireuen Regency also presented the "Friend of PWI" Bireuen award. The award was presented by the Chairperson of the PWI Aceh Province, Nasir Nurdin, accompanied by the Chairperson of the PWI Bireuen for the 2022-2025 period, Ariadi B. Jangka.
Ariadi B. Jangka explained that the award was given in recognition of the dedication and appreciation of the Regent and several prominent figures in Bireuen who have collaborated with the PWI and provided support for various PWI programs.
The selection of recipients for this award was carried out selectively, and this is not just an ordinary award but is based on collaboration that leads to the strengthening of the organization, the government, and the people of Bireuen in particular.
