I am not sure if it's an improvement. I like the talk why is chosen for what though.
If it comes to it a logo is a logo and rarely big. What is left (visible) if used on a paper or envelope? It feels to me as if the dark blue around the circle makes the inner pop out.
It's the first time I hear the explanaiton of the colour orange..
