Al-Hikmah Cunda Mosque

Dear friends, this time will introduce to all of you a mosque in Lhokseumawe. Originally constructed in 1958, Al-Hikmah Mosque underwent significant renovations in 1999 as part of Lhokseumawe City's initiative to enhance its religious infrastructure. Basically, the Al Hikmah mosque was built with a size that is not as big as it is now, but along with the development of the number of worshipers, the mosque underwent multiple expansions over the years, culminating in its current two-story structure that accommodates more worshippers. The name Al-Hikmah was chosen as a symbol of wisdom in worship and society. The mosque's reputation as a sacred destination brings together worshippers from multiple districts, creating a vibrant spiritual community. The total area of this mosque is a total of 2,800 m2. But after I read some articles that this mosque only chooses the main prayer space, which is 1,600 m2. For a more complete explanation of the history of this mosque, friends can see this journal.

From the front of the mosque building, there is a fairly large gate painted in white. For a picture of the gate, friends can see the picture below. This mosque has no towering minarets and only has a green dome that is semicircular and has a star moon on it.

The gate of this mosque directly faces the Medan-Banda Aceh crossing road. The mosque is also surrounded by a fence that limits the area of the mosque and its courtyard.

View of the mosque from the front (north)

Then when we look from the north side, it is clear that the building structure is symmetrical where the mosque door has become a general shape, which is curved. It is clearly visible that the building is white and patterned with stripes and flower motifs. Also visible in front of the northern mosque is a yard used for parking two wheels.

Then when we look from the east side, it looks clearly similar to the north side of the mosque but here there are some differences, where at the entrance there are stairs and also a wider yard which is used as a parking lot for four-wheeled vehicles.

Pulpit

Now when entering the mosque of course in the Main room (west part), there is a wooden pulpit carved with Acehnese vine motifs and there is also a dome (white metal). The pulpit is not high because it only has three steps which are also made of wood.

The main prayer space is dominated by dozens of large white columns, each with its own style. It is clear that this mosque has two main floors for worship. The second floor has a protective fence.

Mosque ceiling

The ceiling of the mosque is decorated with geometric paintings of cat and green patterns, forming a pyramid. In the center is a rather large crystal chandelier.

shelf to store the Quran and books

Some parts of the pillars are equipped with two-tiered yellow metal shelves containing Quran copies and Islamic books. In addition to the Mushaf, there are also several hadith books and prayer books neatly arranged at the bottom. This shelf makes it easy for worshipers to access readings without the need to stand.

loudspeaker

Not just shelves, on some of the poles there are black box speakers installed with cables neatly hidden in the pipes.

On the ceiling there are also several fans that make people worship feel comfortable, unfortunately there is no air conditioner here.

The floor of the prayer room in this mosque uses large pieces of brick-red granite, with a broken stone pattern but a smooth glossy surface.

stairs entering/exiting the mosque

There are also stairs with handrails for the elderly and children. The handrails are made of stainless steel.

Reminder board for two-wheeled parking

To make it easier for visitors to be directed, there is also a parking sign made of green-colored wood that reads parking for two wheels.

Meanwhile, the four-wheel parking board is made of iron plates colored green with a reminder for four-wheel parking.

Ablution and Restroom

The ablution area has two sections, one for women and one for men, as well as toilets. It is located on the east-south side of the mosque.
