He was used to seeing in the dark, but he wouldn't do it anymore. It would be his entire life to be subject to total darkness from now on.
It's sad because when an older person is removed from what they like to do, it takes away their life.
That's really sad.
But would the consequence of disobedience pay attention to anyone's age?

To be disobedient the only thing you have to have is a lot of pride, believing that you do everything on your own, very well and you only do what you want. In fact, there is a lot of pride in adolescence and we also find it in many older adults, but it is not exclusive to a certain age.
