Novel: The End of Love

Part- 13: On the Path of Confession

The winter breeze was getting colder day by day. Towards the end of December, fog would descend around the campus before evening. On such an afternoon, Rahul and Trisha were walking together by the river again. The previous experience at the ghat had invisibly pulled both of them back there. Today, their conversations were also decreasing. Both of them seemed to be trying to sort out their inner feelings. Rahul's chest was pounding—he knew that if he didn't say it today, it would be difficult to find the courage again.

Trisha was walking slowly, looking at the river current. Suddenly, she stopped and said, Rahul, have you ever wondered why people get involved with each other so easily? Rahul was a little surprised. What do you mean? Trisha smiled and said, Look at us. We didn't know each other before. But now it seems that my day is incomplete without you.

Hearing this, all the doubts inside Rahul collapsed. He looked deeply into Trisha's eyes. There was no arrogance, no distance in those eyes today, but rather a strange expectation. Rahul slowly said, Trisha, I have wanted to say something for a long time. But I was afraid… if you moved away.

Trisha asked softly, what is it? Rahul took a breath and lowered his eyes to the river, then looked into Trisha's eyes again. I don't just want friendship. I want you… closer. I want you to be a part of my life. Trisha, I love you.

The moment seemed to stop. The waves of the river had stopped, the wind had stopped too. Trisha's lips trembled slightly, tears glinted in her eyes. After a moment of silence, she slowly said, Rahul, I thought I was the only one feeling this way… but you too…! Rahul looked at him in surprise. So…? Trisha smiled shyly and lowered her head. I love you too.

At that moment, all the sounds in the world seemed to merge. Only the heartbeats of the two young people blended together into an invisible melody. Sitting on the old steps of the ghat, they silently looked up at the sky. The two of them clasped their hands in each other's, as if promising that from now on, wherever they went, they would be together.

Part- 14 coming soon..Thank you all for taking the time to read my post. I hope you all enjoy it.
