Appearance matters?
With a slight twitch on her lips, Dianne gave a once over at her fiance who was waiting in her living room. Her expression gave nothing but disapproval.
She almost let out a disgruntle.
Taking in the appearance of Jo; he was putting on a wife beater paired with an office pants. He deemed it fit to add a hat which he is yet to even remove while inside.
Christ, he definitely would have walked into her apartment like that with her nosy neighbors peering their eyes at him.
She loved him dearly but sometimes appearance matters.
Sensing the lukewarm energy from his fiancee, Jo frowned.
“What's wrong, did I do something?” he asked.
Diana only sighed. They were not having this conversation again; they have countless times but it only leads to argument with no change at the end of it all.
“Why are you dressed like that? For goodness sake Jo, I don't care if this comes to you as a nag but I am someone who prioritize appearance. You should know this.”
“Diana if we're going to get married, you should accept me the way I am.” Came his lazy reply.
“Please, try to appear decent at least.” She almost snapped as she disappeared into the kitchen.
The pristine walls of the company brought out the alluring figure of Diana as she strolled through it along with other workers.
With an admiring smile they threw pleasantries at her once in a while. She was beautiful; and she does a good job dressing up well to work. It was one of the things admired about her at work.
Upon reaching the reception, she raised a questioning brow at the stupified clerk.
“He said he knows you and wants to see you” the clerk said to her unsurely gesturing at Jo.
Diana almost screamed at the sight of her fiancee which greeted her. Was he doing it intentionally?
Jo appeared at her workplace in brown button down shirt paired with a green gym shorts and a pair of Crocs.
“Hey. Came to get my bike keys. Think I left it in your bag yesterday” he announced.
Diana could almost hear the tiny snickers coming from other workers around.
“I don't know him”
Came her cold reply.
“What?” Jo and the clerk said at the same time. Their eye widened.
“I said I don't know this person. I'm busy.” With that she turned on her heels, walking away with heavy heart.
She walked into Jo’s apartment with slight guilt, she'd knocked but no response. Hence she entered and what greeted her was the gloomy sight of his back towards her.
She could almost feel his melancholy.
Yes, he was heartbroken.
His fiance had openly denied him.
Never in a million years would even Diana expect herself to deny him too.
“Let's break up” his hoarse voice croaked out.
Surprisingly, Diana felt nothing about the announcement.
“Here's your key”. Dropped the stuff he came for earlier. “And it was nice knowing you”
With that, she was out of his apartment.
And life…
Placing a lot of importance on appearances is extremely superficial; a “plastic girl” is the colloquial term we use in my country to refer to women who are like that.
The most important thing will always be what we have inside and who we are as a whole, so a nice pair of shoes, designer pants, or an expensive shirt does not determine a person's worth; it is just a way of dressing. Poor man, he was hurt for dressing poorly at the girl's work, although she was too extreme in denying that she knew him.
Definitely.😪
Denying their relationship was a bit
Appearing at her work inappropriately dressed is not a good idea too.
So I'm not giving either of them any credit
Of course, it's only a person's inner values that really matter, but let's be honest: we see the outside first. Naturally, we form an initial judgement based on that. If someone appears very unkempt or completely inappropriate, that can also be devastating... If you get to know each other better anyway, I think these prejudices disappear again.
Of course, this is not even the matter of being judgmental.
Trying to adjust yourself for your partner should be considered too
No! Not for the partner. For oneself.
