The boss who forgot the clock

Time flew by, and the majority of the city's offices closed for the night. Even though it was growing dark outside, one tiny office on the third floor was still bright.

Mr. Peiris continues to work with numerous documents on his table. His glasses were falling down his nose, but he didn't care. He was writing something, maybe a letter or a report. He appeared quite serious about whatever it is.

He didn't know that time was passing and getting dark. In his world job is first. He doesn't need his dinner or sleep; he only needs more paper and a working pen.

His table's landline rang "beif... beif.." Raising the receiver without glancing at the phone, he impatiently replied, "Go with the driver, don't trouble me". Must be her wife. She may be worried about her husband. No life, no happiness, no caring, only the work.

In the corner of the room, Sanduni, her secretary, was going over some files. While she was coming to her boss, she glanced at the wall clock, the time was 7.15 p.m. Her mind ran to her house; she imagined how her two-year-old little kid and five-year-old son were waiting for her on the sofa. She murmured to herself, "Please let me go home!" but no one could hear her.

She didn't want to make her boss angry, as he was a hot-tempered boss.

She couldn't stand the thought of leaving, though. "Sir, may I leave now?" she said as she gave Mr. Peiris the papers.

He handed her a report to type, "Type this using font size 12," without responding to her query.

She looked at the clock, it was 7.30 p.m.

Her phone buzzed, it was her younger daughter "Mom, brother spilt milk on the sofa". Again, son's sound was heard: "No, Mom, sister applied your lipstick on the cat."

Sanduni was frozen, but with a deep breath, gave a fake smile to her boss.

Quickly, she finished the report and handed it over to her boss.

" Sir, anything else? She asked sweetly, hiding her worries.

Mr. Peiris didn't even raise his head, and said, "Yes, yes.. bring me the 2020/2021 Finance file."

Sanduni got frustrated. She opened another drawer, made some noises, and sighed loudly. She wanted to wake up her boss.

But everything was in vain, she again looked at the clock, it was now 8.45 p.m.

A good idea came to her mind.

She walked to her boss, smiled, and sweetly said, "Sir, if I go home now, I can come early tomorrow and help you better."

Mr. Peiris blinked. "Sleep? he asked, as if he didn't know that word.

"Yes, Sir. Most people sleep at night."

He looked at Sanduni curiously.

“Okay,” he said slowly, “But don’t be late tomorrow. A very important day.

Before he changed his mind, Sanduni smiled broadly and hurried to get her bag.

Just as she reached the door, Mr. Peiris called out again.

“Wait! Can you please help me with one more thing?”

She was frightened, oh! another work.

Then he said, “Can you remind me tomorrow, why I’m even writing this report?”

Sanduni nodded. “Of course, Sir.”

She finally escaped from the place with a smile on her face.

She was worried about her kids but felt some freedom.

Again, Mr. Peiris looked at his desk full of papers.

"Humm.. what was I writing on again?"

He picked up a paper and read it. It said, "Meeting Agenda: Make sure Sanduni also has a life too."

He smiled. “I must have written that by mistake.”

And then again, he continued writing.

Thank you for reading my presentation.

Me encantó leerte. Gracias por estar. Un abrazo.

No, the notes had been written by Mr. Peiris, her boss, without his own knowledge. His subconscious might at last realize that Sanduni needs a world too. Even though he works like that, he also has bones and blood. 😀. Thank you for reading. Big hug.

Saludos y bendiciones.

I am also in your boat. Those days I am also like that when the clock shows 5.00 p.m. I grab my bag and leave the office. My boss knows my personality, so if he needs me, he never schedules meetings after 5:00 p.m.😀
Thank you for reading and leaving a kind feedback.Big hug.

Creo que la razón de la nota es que el subconsciente lo traicionó, en el fondo sabe que todos necesitan "una vida".
No está bien abandonar a nuestras familias por el trabajo, gran parte de la vida está fuera de la oficina.

Of course, you're correct. You knew the truth about the situation. The subconscious is always waiting for the needs, even when people act as though they have nothing at all in mind.
My family is the most important thing in my life, although sometimes it may be my lack. However, as a result, I maintain a very peaceful and happy family life.
Thank you for reading, friend, and for your lovely comment.

Hay personas que trabajan tanto que olvidan compartir con su familia y creo que el subconsciente del jefe de la chica hizo que escribiera esa nota para hacerle recordar que ella tenía una familia talvez porque siempre olvidaba darle un descanso a su secretaria
