interstellar travel

We currently don't have the capability to do interstellar travel, perhaps we can do some type of interstellar travel with the technology we have in a few years, but what might this look like in the future? And the thing is, if a colonial ship is designed, people are put inside it, everything is prepared, it is launched and it turns out that, after a century, because these trips can last centuries, after 100 years it turns out that a ship is invented that travels much faster. than the previous one and that it can overtake that ship and reach the objective sooner that can happen.

Another issue is that things are not going as fast as we think, from what we know, if we get into the topic of the Alcubierre curvature engine and these topics, we do not know how to go faster than light and we have enough indications to think that this is between impossible or extreme level, cosmic extreme in this case, because the Alcubierre curvature engine, which sometimes I usually get mentioned in these topics that would be capable of traveling faster than light. The problem it has is that we do not have the technology to develop it.

There are many elements that we do not know, or even that exist, to be able to do it and then the amount of energy necessary would be colossal, so for the moment and I think that for quite some time, what we will be able to have are ships that travel at a fraction, a part of the speed of light, and it may take them a while to reach Proxima Centauri or Alpha Centauri A, for example, to this place where they have found a new exoplanet, maybe in 100 years, but I doubt that we can improve that technology after 100 more years.

At the moment we have to achieve this technology, surely we will be able to achieve it by the end of the century, but I doubt that we will be able to improve it in a long time, because there are many things that it is also true that there are many things about the universe that we do not know.

I know that these things sound like fiction, but it is also science fiction, dreaming, imagining, are necessary ingredients for any explorer, Marie Curie said, "We especially need imagination in the sciences, not everything is mathematics and not everything is simple logic, there is also a little beauty and poetry.", but at what point in the history of humanity are we to make a true interstellar journey, which would be the first question we have to ask ourselves.

The answer is that it is still missing, humans have not yet made an interplanetary trip, we have not reached Mars, nor Venus, which is the closest planet, we have not reached any planet, the furthest that humans have been is just over 400,000 km from Earth, it was during the Apollo XIII mission and we are also incapable of maintaining a permanent and independent presence in space.

Space stations need to receive supplies from Earth, to be able to make an interstellar trip, you have to think about a ship that has to function independently, loaded with supplies or regenerate supplies in some way for at least 100 years, some projects are designed so that the ship can maintain human presence for millennia, they would be like miniature planets.

Another problem is that, even if we could develop some projects before the end of this century, the economic cost would be so cosmic that it would mortgage the development of humanity here on Earth, and lastly there is the Earth, our planet, because any place we go in the cosmos we will have to adapt it to our environmental conditions, we will have to transform it, and the problem is that we still do not know how to manage our planet.

We have to learn to eliminate pollution and keep our world and also our society environmentally stable, as an example of that, what is happening on the planet, we don't even know how to maintain peace and social stability in our world, imagine, putting all the current chaos we have in a ship, I don't think things will turn out well, so we still have a long way to go.
