On the hunt for interesting objects.

Interstellar objects have helped us humans change the paradigm a little, because we have been dreaming for a long time of traveling to other stars, to planets, wondering what those planets will be like, what strange things will speak on them. We were naive thinking that we live on an island isolated from the rest of the cosmos, but I already say that on October 19, specifically 2017, the cosmos reminded us that this was not the case, that we are not isolated and that at any moment we can receive a visit from distant objects, some strange, others familiar and sometimes loaded with molecules and elements that could hold the keys to understanding the origin of life, which goes to show that life on Earth may not be an isolated case.

About strange oumuamua, about familiar 2I/Borisov, which is the second interstellar object detected, which no one doubts was a comet, it behaved like a comet, it came, it shone like a comet and now it is leaving like a normal comet. oumuamua, yes it is strange, and this latest 3I/Atlas is showing that it is loaded with elements and molecules and strange things.

They have come up with a theory that is the most accepted by astronomers, the issue that Omuoma, which was a block of nitrogen, but I buy that idea, because it is a theory that, although it is the most accepted and that could "explain" the issue of the acceleration of oumuamua, is that too many things have to happen for it to be perfect and we are describing with that theory an object that we have never found. In the end, you already know that this is like a police investigation and evidence is needed.

The day we find a comet that is made of a unique and exclusive element, perhaps we could give a point to this theory, but even so it continues to have more ifs and buts and more problems, which is Oumuamua, we do not know and it is possible that like other police investigations, because science at its core is that, investigating the mystery, the enigma, although in this case there is no crime, but investigating the mystery, it is possible that like police investigations, this one will remain unsolved.

Oumuamua is currently at an approximate distance of 7,165 million kilometers from Earth and is moving away from us at about 26 km per second, that is 93,600 km/h, in fact, it is currently further away from us than Pluto, Pluto has a fairly elliptical orbit, but on average it is about 5,900 million kilometers away, Oumuamua is already much further away. Even so, it will have to spend several thousand years traveling until it leaves the solar system.

The question is, could a ship be sent to reach it and thus know at once what it is and what it is made of? The answer is that maybe yes, we may not see it, because it will take time, but it would be possible, without inventing strange technologies, in fact, there is a project, the Lyra project or mission.

The project is an initiative of Interstellar Studies, which is a non-profit and scientific organization to study these types of topics and carry out projects and lay the foundations for this type of missions, the main objective in this specific case would be to reach Oumuamua in a reasonable time.

What they have done in the project is to study different technologies, including gravitational assistance such as obtaining gravitational assistance from the Sun or Jupiter, using advanced thrusters to accelerate the ship to speeds of 50 or 70 km per second and in this case, the illustration they use is light sails or solar sails driven with lasers that can reach enormous speeds. It is 20% the speed of light.

All these technologies are not science fiction, they could be created, the thing is that they will take time, it is believed that if we could send a mission it could reach Oumuamua around the year 2050 or maybe later, depending on the technology used, the chosen trajectory and the time it takes to finally build that probe that will explore Oumuamua, of course, the light candle thing is nice, but it has its complications.

The problem is that you need a very large sail to carry the equipment you need, because obviously you need cameras, I would put, for example, a lander to land on Oumuamua, there would also be an antenna to be able to send everything it collects information to the Earth, all this equipment has volume, it weighs and a huge sail would be needed.

Also a rocket motor because, of course, solar sails reach high speed, but you can't stop, that's the problem they have, therefore, when it reaches its target, a rocket had to be activated so that it stops and can enter orbit or get closer to Oumuamua, I say get closer or get into orbit because it can be complicated. Oumuamua is small, about 240 m long and about 40 m wide by another 40 m high, it's not impossible, I didn't get to see it, for Unfortunately, I hope that some of you manage to see a mission to Oumuamua and find out what exactly this strange object was.
