They create blockchain technology that is proof of quantum cyberattacks

In a future where the world's digital security foundation, from your bitcoins to the most sensitive contracts, can simply collapse in seconds, that is the power of quantum computing, a force that threatens to make current cryptography obsolete, yet Chinese scientists claim to have taken a step forward in the race to protect that information.

EQAS, a new blockchain technology designed to resist even the power of quantum supercomputers, at the heart of EQAS is a revolutionary principle, abandoning old-school cryptography based on complex mathematics such as factorization of prime numbers or discrete logarithms and adopting post-quantum methods, for this, the researchers relied on SPHINCS, a digital signature created in 2015 that uses hash functions much more resistant structures against quantum computer attacks.

Unlike classical systems where keys can be cracked with quantum algorithms in minutes, hash functions create a maze so complex that not even quantum computing can easily decipher it.

The EQAS structure does not stop at the digital signature, the system islands the way data is stored from the way it is verified. Something essential, in decentralized networks, thousands of nodes must confirm each transaction without depending on each other.

To achieve this, EQAS combines dynamic trees that generate tests and a super tree that authenticates those tests, creating a double layer of security, in the initial tests, this model drastically reduced the authentication time instead of 180 seconds to validate an operation as in the Ethereum blockchain, the EQAS does the job in just 40 seconds and EQAS is not just a laboratory theory, it is seen as a viable solution for sectors that depend on blockchains or robust such as international logistics, digital identity and, of course, large-scale financial transactions.

In practice this means smart contracts, global supply chains and personal data shielded against a threat that experts say is only a matter of time before becoming a reality.
