A double increase in capacity.

In my articles, humanoid robots are always highlighted, but one of the risks associated with this technology are the batteries that until now ran the risk of simply catching fire or exploding. However, Figure, a startup from the United States, has just revealed a new generation of batteries for its robots, which not only delivers 94% more energy, being able to last up to 5 hours, but also that fire test will be rectified under the highest safety standards and ready for mass production.

This advance may be the missing push to place autonomous robots on the front lines of the real world, the heart of this energy revolution is called F.03, this third generation battery is fully integrated into the torso of the robot, eliminating the need for external batteries, which frees up space, reduces mass and also reinforces the physical structure of the robot.

With 2.3 kWh of energy capacity, it was built with materials such as stamped steel and cast aluminum, that is, it is not only a source of energy, but an active part of the robot's skeleton. In addition, it has an active cooling system incorporated into the housing itself, which allows fast and safe charges of up to 2 kW without compromising thermal integrity.

It is the first battery with a safety certificate

But what is most striking is Figure's radical approach to safety, the F.03 is the first battery for humanoid robots to receive UN38.3 UL2271 certifications. Rigorous standards that until now were only applied in the electric vehicle industry, The battery is equipped with an intelligent management system that prevents overheating, short circuits and thermal failures.

In extreme tests such as deliberate heat injections, the system proved capable of containing any internal ignition without letting it escape further into the interior. This is possible thanks to a set of multi-layer protections that include insulating compounds, thermal fuses and even an internal firestop system.

All this makes the F.03 not only a more powerful battery, but also an armored fortress against accidents, this new energy standard places Figure in a privileged position to scale its production. Up to 12,000 robots per year designed to operate with this same battery, and even more so, as all manufacturing is carried out internally through casting, molding, injection and industrial stamping processes, the company manages to reduce costs by up to 78% compared to the previous generation.

This means that for the first time a company is managing to unite security, power and economic viability in a single theft energy system, and that has gigantic implications for sectors such as logistics, customer service, construction, agriculture, health, even companionship for humans.
