The Tesla robot serves you popcorn.

Souce

You are at the cinema and through the app you order some popcorn, in an instant, a humanoid robot appears with a tray of popcorn in its hands and an invisible smile on its metallic face.

Elon Musk has already taken the first step to transform this scene into routine, Tesla announced that starting in 2026 its humanoid robot Optimus will officially be an employee of the Supercharger Dinner, a futuristic station with a drive-in, restaurant and open-air cinema. And the most surprising thing, the robot has already started its practice serving popcorn, literally.

Óptimus was designed to perform dangerous, repetitive or boring tasks, but the idea of seeing it acting as a waiter, cleaner and even a cook raises the proposal to a new level, it is already capable of moving pots, taking out the trash, vacuuming the floor, even cleaning the table with palm and brush, all of this under command in natural language, it is no longer about showing a robot folding clothes at technology events, but rather applying it in real environments with real humans.

What was once a robotic demonstration became real work, or almost Tesla wants Optimus to learn by watching videos of humans, yes, as if he were a student using the internet, the difference is that he does not watch passively, the visual data is extracted and transformed into patterns of movement and behavior that the robot can replicate.

There was a significant advance that now allows human video data to be directly transferred to bots in the first person, after which Optimus practices only with reinforcement learning, training by trial and error until perfection is reached, the goal is to create a reliable, accurate robot that can adapt to new tasks with minimal human intervention.

The supercharger dinner is just the beginning, Elon Musk wants to see thousands of robots working alongside humans in Tesla factories, performing everything from assembling parts to cleaning and transport operations, the current version of Optimas already exhibits smooth movements, synchronized dances and basic household tasks, but the next generation called Optimus Street promises an exponential leap with greater autonomy and integration with already advanced systems and refined vision and force sensors.

Tesla plans to scale production starting in 2026, an improved version for commercial and home use, despite the enthusiasm, critics point out that many of these demonstrations are still controlled remotely and the level of real optimal autonomy still raises doubts. Tesla also faces obstacles such as supply chain issues, changes in project leadership, and challenges scaling production consistently, but the visual and media appeal is powerful.

The robot serving popcorn went viral, reinforcing Musk's vision of a world where robots work like any other teammate, that scene of a robot serving food in a futuristic restaurant seemed distant until now, with Elon Musk at the forefront of the idea, Optimus could become the first humanoid to really conquer a profession in everyday life here in the West, but the question remains that does not want to be silenced, would you trust your order of hamburger and fries to a robot that learned everything from Internet videos? Or would you still prefer the meat and bones waiter?
