Today, such an incident happened, and even writing about it makes me feel heavy inside.

One of my colleagues, who has been working with me in the same office for the past 12 years, is more than just a coworker — he’s a friend. A calm, polite, and responsible person, he hails from Bauphal Upazila in the Patuakhali district of the Barishal Division. Because of his job, he lives with his family in a rented home near our office. Over the years, we have shared countless moments — joys, challenges, and everyday stories from work and life.

For several days, the unbearable heat had been suffocating the city. Everyone was eagerly waiting for a drop of rain. Finally, this afternoon, the long-awaited rain arrived — a light drizzle that brought a bit of relief. But with it came an unforeseen danger. The roads became slippery, a detail that might seem minor but can turn dangerous in a matter of seconds if one is not careful.

At around 1:30 PM, my colleague went home for lunch, just like any other day. He had his meal and was returning to the office, unaware that this routine trip would suddenly turn into a painful memory. The rain had left the streets wet and slick. Thankfully, there were no fractures or surgeries required, but the injury was serious enough to keep him away from work for a while.
