A Cultural Heritage That Continues to Run: Photographic Documentation of Traditional Horse Racing
Hello Steemian in CCS Community Everyone
How are you all today, I hope you are doing well wherever you are
On this occasion, I'd like to share a story that I consider quite special. This story relates to my experience in the world of photography, particularly while covering a colorful and meaningful cultural event. The event is a traditional horse race held annually, coinciding with the anniversary of one of the regencies where I live.
This traditional horse race is nothing new to the local community. Since its inception 21 years ago, it has become an integral part of the region's identity and pride. This year marks the 21st anniversary of the regency, and as in previous years, the horse race is a highly anticipated highlight. For the community, this event is not simply a race to see who is the fastest, but a symbol of togetherness and a spirit of mutual cooperation passed down from generation to generation.
The horse race usually lasts for an entire week. The open field that serves as the race venue is suddenly filled with thousands of residents who come with family, friends, and relatives. The atmosphere is lively, filled with cheers, children's laughter, and shouts of encouragement for the jockeys competing. Local vendors also took advantage of the moment, selling a variety of traditional foods and drinks, adding to the lively atmosphere.
My journey to the event location was not short. Riding a motorcycle, I traveled for approximately two hours along winding roads typical of mountainous areas. However, the fatigue of the journey was immediately rewarded upon arrival. The views of the green hills surrounding the racetrack provided a beautiful backdrop for every photo I took.
For me personally, this event is more than just entertainment. Behind the hustle and bustle of the race, there's a palpable social value. This horse race serves as a gathering place, a place where people who might not see each other often can gather and exchange news. The sense of community fostered at this event is one of the reasons I almost never miss it each year.
As a photography enthusiast, moments like these are incredibly rich. I can capture the passionate expressions of the jockeys, the galloping horses, and the warm interactions of the spectators. In this post, I want to share some of the photos I captured, hoping to provide a glimpse into the beauty and warmth of this traditional horse race. Hopefully this story can be an inspiration for readers and increase our appreciation for the richness of local culture.

I like documentary stories. The photographs "tell" us details about the culture of that area. The direct contact of the people with the riders and horses. Especially when you mention that this event has been going on for 21 years.
What's the name of the place?
