Mersea, Essex
One of my favourite things to do is to visit islands and I really enjoyed visiting Mersea island at the end of last year. I’m really trying to catch up with all the places I have seen over the last two years, but I ended up with so much footage it’s been really hard to edit. Mersea is an island off Essex And despite being an island it is accessible by car because it has a Causeway that is open for most of the day but closed off in the morning and evening as the tide comes in. You have to research the tide times in advance. If you happen to catch it at the wrong time there have been cases of cars having to be rescued from the water. I was quite worried about going because of this , but actually when I got there I realised that the only people that really tend to get stuck on those that don’t turn around when they get a chance. It only really happens to people who cross when the water is already starting to come over the Causeway.
I really enjoyed my visit to Mersea. It has a few Cafes, popular beach with colourful beach huts and it even has a museum which was only £3 to enter which tells you all about the history of the island, I also went to a farm shop and found a vineyard where I was able to buy a coffee :)
