SLC-S26/W1 | Basic tools for pot making /Cement pot"

I hope you all are good and doing well. Today I'm here to be a part of this amazing contest ***"SLC-S26/W1 | Basic tools for pot making /Cement pot". I have tried first time pot making and i feel its quiet tricky, not difficult. I made pot two time but hopefully i have understand how will make it perfectly.

1 . Make a beautiful pot from cement use any design of mold as your convenience ,follow given method in the course ,add detail with step-by-step pictures. Include your name tag with the date at the final presentation of your work.

For this contest I have made cement pot by following the instructions given by teacher @sualeha. All details of preparation are given

Materials:

Ingredients:
Plastic bowl
Cement 1cup
Sand 2 cups
Water
Oil
Paints
Paint Brushes

Making:

• First I strain sand to remove small stones ,we need fine sand to make pot. Before this pot i made another pot that was break due to large amount of small stones in sand ,as cement doesn't bind with stones tightly. To give shape we need it.

• Then added cement in this sand with the same ratio that given by teacher. Gradually add water to make its smooth mixture.

• Now add this cement mixture to that mold at its base then place another plastic pot inside to make hole at the center.

• Let it dry for 24 hours and take out it from mold. This time it comes out better. You can see in picture.

• First I used sand paper and rub it to smooth its corner, then I take out colour for painting .

• First coat primer on pot ,let it dry then I paint pink colour by mixing two shades of pink.

I'm sharing all the ingredients with their prices, all ingredients are locally easily available and are not costly . I used mold from waste material so have zero cost.

3 . Did you face any difficulty during tasks or anything regarding purchasing materials?

I didn't face any difficulty in purchasing materials, they all are available at market but I couldn't make the pot in first attempt. When I tried first time I used leftover cement that was stored at my roof from 8-10 months, didn't strain sand and mold it but next day when I took it out all break with slightly shock. My husband said cement is expired, he bought mew for me all work done smoothly but i took out when mold was wet after 5 hrs , a cracked appeared from top to bottom, my husband helped me to join this cracked. I think procedure is not difficult but we can't handle the mold. But by practicing we can make good cement pot in future.

4 . What do you think? Does playing with clay or different materials make you happy /stress-free???

Yes ,playing with clay or different materials make me happy . Research shows playing with clay and different materials play important role in relieving their stress, it can be super therapeutic. In these types of activity you need focus of mind ,creativity and their tactile experience may calm your mind and boost your mood. Personally I feel relaxation, mind focusing on activity, and experience a creativity that need to refresh my mind. A healthy activity for mind.
