That Saturday morning, the skies over Banda Aceh were shrouded in thin clouds. In the courtyard of the Wali Nanggroe Hall, several guest cars were neatly parked. The aroma of Acehnese coffee served in the living room mingled with the warm atmosphere of conversation. In the main room, His Excellency Tgk. Malik Mahmud Al Haythar sat opposite the Head of the Aceh Agriculture and Plantation Service, Ir. Cut Huzaimah, MP.

This meeting was more than just a friendly gathering. On the table, proposal files, meeting notes, and event brochures were neatly arranged. All of them pointed to one grand mission: bringing Acehnese palm oil to the international market.

"We fully support this initiative," said the Wali Nanggroe, with a firm voice. "There are indeed many obstacles to export, but with the steps being taken, we have reason to be optimistic."

The atmosphere in the room was solemn yet enthusiastic. The Wali Nanggroe's Special Staff, Dr. M. Raviq occasionally noted important points, while the Head of Cooperation and Public Relations, Zulfikar Idris, outlined the planned attendance of investors, ministry representatives, and ambassadors from friendly countries in Aceh.

Cut Huzaimah then explained that in just three days—on August 12–13, 2025—Banda Aceh will host the International Sustainable Palm Oil Summit. This forum will bring together ministries, central agencies, several ministers, seven ambassadors (including those from the Netherlands, Switzerland, and Germany), donor agencies such as the World Bank and the Islamic Development Bank (IDB), nine international buyers, plantation companies, and national and global NGOs.

For Aceh, this event is more than just a conference. It is a platform to affirm its commitment to sustainability (no deforestation), while simultaneously transforming the Acehnese palm oil industry from a crude palm oil (CPO) seller to a producer of high-value derivative products.

"The presence of these investors and buyers is a golden opportunity. We want Acehnese palm oil to be known not only for its quantity, but also for its quality and sustainability," said Cut Huzaimah confidently.

By the end of the meeting, the atmosphere was lighter. Some guests smiled and shared brief stories, but everyone knew—a big job lay ahead. Aceh's palm oil was poised to take the world stage, and the support of the Wali Nanggroe was a crucial stepping stone.[]
