Cafe Socolatte, located on Jalan Banda Aceh-Medan, Km 137, Gampong Baroh Musa, Bandar Baru District, Pidie Jaya, is a must-visit destination for anyone passing through the national road. Socolatte cafe serves chocolate-based culinary to chocolate drinks with the Socolatte brand. In addition to the cafe, Socolatte also has its own production house to process cocoa beans into chocolate.
From the entrance of the cafe, a strong aroma of chocolate can be smelled. A cafe stands tall with a jambo nuance, next to it there is a mini glass room, there are long shelves neatly arranged with various chocolate products that will arouse anyone's appetite. Still in the same location, right behind this chocolate outlet is the Socolatte chocolate production house. Socolatte is a product of the brainchild of Irwan Ibrahim, as a farmer and cocoa practitioner from Musa Baroh, Pidie Jaya. The idea of making processed chocolate products emerged in 2003, at that time Irwan saw that the Pidie Jaya area was a cocoa producer in Aceh with abundant raw materials. But unfortunately the very long chocolate marketing process, starting from farmers selling their produce to collectors, then to agents in Medan and finally to producers, meant that farmers did not get maximum profit.
By making processed chocolate products in Pidie Jaya, it can cut the long marketing chain, so that it can increase the added value for cocoa farmers in Pidie Jaya. With high enthusiasm and dedication, Irwan has now succeeded in developing his business to make Socolatte one of the superior products of the region and his cafe which is now an icon of the region. After several years, their business has grown quite well, with a turnover that allows them to employ 40 people in total. Every day, this business generates at least five million rupiah per day.
The Socolatte outlet looks magnificent with a modern design, complete with new facilities such as a comfortable cafe for visitors. This cafe allows visitors to enjoy various chocolate products directly on the spot, from hot chocolate drinks, iced chocolate to chocolate-based snacks. I myself often stop by the Socolatte cafe when traveling to the Sigli or Banda Aceh areas. Although I did not specifically come from Lhokseumawe to the cafe. Some time ago, my wife and I and Raffa had returned to the Socolatte outlet when we returned from Banda Aceh.
