UIN Ar-Raniry Banda Aceh is an Islamic University that is the pride of the Acehnese people. UIN Ar-Raniry is a State Islamic Religious College located in Darussalam, Banda Aceh City. Recently, the State Islamic University (UIN) Ar-Raniry Banda Aceh achieved a proud achievement in the field of research. Based on the 2025 SCImago Institutions Rankings (SIR), UIN Ar-Raniry Banda Aceh is ranked first as the campus with the best research performance outside Java or the best in Sumatra. This extraordinary achievement places UIN Ar-Raniry in fourth place nationally.

UIN Ar-Raniry is able to compete with a number of well-known universities such as the University of Indonesia (UI), Gadjah Mada University (UGM), and the Bogor Agricultural Institute (IPB). UIN Ar-Raniry Banda Aceh is the only State Islamic Religious College that is included in the top five nationally. Prof. Dr. Mujiburrahman as the Chancellor of UIN Ar-Raniry Banda Aceh said that the results are proof of the campus' commitment to improving the quality of research governance. This has a broad impact on the development of science and technology. These results are the hard work of the entire academic community.

The Chancellor and all stakeholders of UIN Ar-Raniry continue to encourage a quality research culture in various fields. The SIR ranking is based on a number of indicators. The number of scientific publications in Scopus-indexed journals, international collaborations, the number of articles published in high-reputation journals (Q1), and the number of citations. UIN Ar-Raniry consistently continues to improve the quality and quantity of scientific publications. The UIN campus manages 49 nationally accredited journals, four of which have achieved a Sinta 1 ranking, five Sinta 2 journals, and the rest are spread across Sinta 3 to 5. The El-Usrah Journal managed by the Family Law Study Program of the Faculty of Sharia and Law was recently named the best anthropology journal in Asia by the Scimago Journal Rank (SJR) with the highest score of 0.73.

Meanwhile, three other journals, namely Samarah, Islam Futura, and Petita, have successfully entered the Q1 classification of international journals. UIN Ar-Raniry Banda Aceh is actively building an international research network with Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. In 2024, UIN Ar-Raniry Banda Aceh will hold the 3rd Samarah International Conference on Islamic Family Law and Islamic Law (SICOIFL 3) and the First El-Usrah International Conference (El-Usrah ICON 1) in Selangor, Malaysia. UIN Ar-Raniry Banda Aceh is still listed as the PTKIN with the largest number of Scopus-indexed journals under the auspices of the Ministry of Religion of the Republic of Indonesia. Meanwhile, another campus that is the pride of the Acehnese people, Syiah Kuala University, is ranked seventh nationally.
