"Important to Me", Photos and Information. Challenges in Steem Atlas Posts
Without us realizing it, Steem Atlas has now developed into an interesting and enjoyable alternative for posting. The number of Steem Atlas themed posts continues to grow, and many users, including myself, continue to share information about various places.
To date all development work for Steem Atlas has been self-funded by @pennsif, see related news here STEEM ATLAS [09 Jul '25] : DAO Proposal, Atlas Challenge & Delegators Draw.

However, based on my personal experience, as someone who truly enjoys creating Steem Atlas posts, there are some relatively minor obstacles in the field, but they must be addressed with great care.
Believe it or not, many countries around the world, including Indonesia, prohibit people from freely taking photographs in certain places. Examples include banks, hospitals, military offices, restaurant kitchens, places of worship, airports, and art galleries. This may also apply in other countries, not just Indonesia.
The main reasons why the owners or managers of these places prohibit taking photos and information are based on how they maintain People's Privacy (their customers), Security (secrets), Trade secrets (recipes), Copyright (copying) to the protection of collections (other people's works).
However, in some places, this may be easily resolved. However, if it contradicts the information provided, it can have quite serious consequences. This is certainly a bit challenging for countries accustomed to prioritizing privacy, security, trade secrets, copyright, and the protection of other people's collections.
So, I think there's a greater challenge to creating a truly good Steem Atlas post. Therefore, careful consideration is needed to take photos wisely and provide accurate information to avoid conflicting with the points I mentioned above.
There are several things I consider when taking photos of what I inform on Steem Atlas, I don't want any impact in the future that can be questioned, so the results still respect the rules and other people.

There are at least two standards that I do and try to achieve, here are the two standards:
1️⃣ Related to photos. |
---|
Photos are the primary means of describing something without telling a story, but they can sometimes lead to misperceptions and misunderstandings. I find it helpful to consider these points regarding photos. Here are my standards for taking photos of a place (not just the resulting image).
- I would suggest asking for permission first, and looking for signs or symbols that may regulate whether or not taking photos is permissible.📸❌
- Do not include images that can embarrass or even harm other people, because this relates to someone's privacy. (Which may have been accidentally caught on camera)🫥
- Avoid taking photos of the faces of visitors or other people without prior permission.🖼️
- Try to avoid taking photos that are sensitive in nature, and lead to negative connotations.👀
- Avoid Subjects (people) and prioritize objects (things and spaces).🧠

2️⃣ Related to Information. |
---|
It's important to emphasize that the accuracy of information sources is a serious concern. This relates to the image of a place, person, or object. Incorrect information will have a negative impact if seen by many people outside of Steemit and Steem Atlas. Here are the information standards I consider.
- Use clear and friendly language when reviewing and informing about a place, so it's not misinterpreted. (balanced)🎯
- Tell something based on personal experience, not heard from other people's stories.🗣️
- Accurate information comes from the owner and manager of the place, it is mandatory for you to ask for permission first if possible.✅. (Some countries or places may have difficulty with this.)
- Prioritize the advantages; you can probably spot the obvious drawbacks. (It could be that when you arrive, the place or shop isn't in good condition.)⏲️
- Provide balanced information, not only from your point of view, but also from other people (this could be family or friends you invite).👍🏻
- Prioritize ethics and manners.🤝
Finally, a few words of advice and insight. It's important for ambassadors to understand and understand the complexities and regulations that can be difficult to understand in explaining the provisions and unique aspects of a country, region, or location.
I hope this information is useful for those of you who like Steem Atlas themed posts, so that the posts you produce are not just ordinary posts, but also consider the good and bad impacts for you and others in the future.
Best wishes to all of you. Stay enthusiastic and selective in your Steem Atlas posts, sharing the best places you've visited with good language and quality photos.
