The Diary Game: Treating A Client With Chronic Dandruff (Date:17/07/2025)

Today’s experience at the salon reminded me why I love being a hairstylist,it’s more than styling hair; it’s helping people feel confident again. One of my regular clients, walked in with a look of distress that was hard to miss. Her usually bubbly personality was dulled, and she kept adjusting her scarf like she was trying to hide something. I greeted her with a smile, trying to lift her spirits.

After settling in, she removed the scarf and revealed what I had suspected—her scalp was flaky, red in certain areas, and dry patches were visible even from a distance. I had seen dandruff before, but this was beyond the ordinary—it was chronic. She whispered, “Please help me. I’ve tried everything, and it’s getting worse.”

As a professional, I knew this wasn’t just about using regular anti-dandruff shampoo. Chronic dandruff can be triggered by several factors: dry skin, seborrheic dermatitis, stress, allergic reactions, or even improper hair care products. First, I calmed her down, assuring her that she came to the right place.

I began with a scalp assessment. I parted her hair in sections using a rat-tail comb and observed the scalp closely. There was significant buildup around her crown area, some inflammation around the edges, and a few scabs from scratching. I gently asked her about her hair routine, the products she uses, and how often she washes her hair. Her answers confirmed what I suspected—overuse of harsh shampoos, skipping deep conditioning, and washing once every two weeks.

I explained to her what was going on: her scalp was probably reacting to product buildup, dryness, and possibly stress. She looked relieved that someone finally understood her situation without judgment.

I began the treatment process with quality herbal recipes. When I finished, her face had completely transformed—her eyes were brighter, and her smile had returned. She looked in the mirror and said, “I already feel beautiful again.” That made my whole day.

Before she left, I gave her a hair care routine plan: 1. Weekly wash day with a medicated shampoo. 2. treatment with natural oils.Nace Naturals Products 3. Avoid scratching, even when it itches—dab with cool water or Scalp Balm 4.Scalp massages twice a week to stimulate circulation. 5. Avoid heavy gels, sulfates, or petroleum-based products. 6. Clean pillowcases and scarfs weekly to prevent reinfection. 7. Drink water and reduce stress where possible. As I cleaned up my station and reflected on the session, I felt proud. Today wasn’t just about hair—it was about healing. Treating dandruff is a process, but more importantly, restoring a person’s confidence is a mission. It made me appreciate the role I play in my clients’ lives beyond styling. Some clients come in for beauty, but others come in for care—and today,She needed both.

My salon may be small, but in that space, I am more than just a stylist. I’m a therapist, a caregiver, and sometimes, a miracle worker. Today reminded me that in every flake that falls, there’s a story and it’s my job to help my clients, so I write this story with strength and confidence
