It was a sunny Monday morning, May 26th, 2025, at Kings and Queens Schools, where I had the privilege of serving as a teacher. The atmosphere was calm, as our students buzzed with excitement, knowing that the day was for match past and parade practice against the big event.

The occasion? The just concluded Children's Day celebration on May 27th, where our school was competing against other schools in the area. As their teacher, it was my responsibility to ensure that our students were well-prepared and confident to showcase their skills.

As we gathered on the school playground, I could see the eagerness in the eyes of our students. They were ready to learn, to perfect their matching skills, and to make our school proud. My colleagues and I began by demonstrating the proper techniques for match past and parade.

We started with the basics, teaching the students how to march in unison, keeping their steps in sync with the rhythm of the music. We practiced turning, stopping, and starting, ensuring that every movement was precise and coordinated.

As the day progressed, we moved on to more complex routines, incorporating intricate footwork and hand movements. The students were quick learners, and soon they were marching and parading like pros.

Throughout the practice session, we offered words of encouragement, constructive feedback, and plenty of water breaks to keep everyone energized and focused. The students were having a blast, laughing and joking with each other as they perfected their skills.

As the sun began to set, we gathered the students together for a final run-through. The music began, and our students marched and paraded with precision and pride. I felt a sense of pride and accomplishment, knowing that our students were ready to take on the competition.

The next day, May 27th, was Children's Day, and our students took to the field to compete against other schools. With their newfound skills and confidence, they marched and paraded with poise and precision, making our school proud.

As I watched them perform, I couldn't help but think back to the practice session we had the day before. It was a testament to the hard work and dedication of our students, and I was grateful to have been a part of their journey.
