Contest: Safe Agricultural Food Production

Greetings everyone, it's a great privilege to share my contest here in this very community. I so love anything about nature and agriculture, my breakthrough really came from nature photography too. Agriculture is the sole aim of countries including Nigeria, the country really depends largely on agricultural products and revenue so seed selection is a major issue in farming.

Seed selection can be defined as the process of picking out healthy crops or seeds from a group of crops. Here good seeds that yields more are selected from the unproductive seeds. Just like selecting beans, I do experience beetle penetrations in some the beans which will automatically make the infected beans taste strong. So it's advisable to always select out the uninfected crops from others.

Explain the importance of seed selection for safe food production

Seed selection plays important roles which include:
❤️ Making available high quality crops: seed selection can help make available high quality crops which inturn produce quality food which is beneficial to human health. Fresh and good looking farm produce can actually be as a result of seed selection so it's mandatory to select the best seeds for good outcomes.

❤️Producing safe farm produce:
Introducing seed selection helps in producing safe produce that's good for human consumption and health.

❤️Reduction in seed diseases seed selection helps in reducing seed diseases that may affect the growth of the crops and also produce low yield farm produce.

❤️ Pest control
Seeds like maize can passed pest from the seeds to the main plant so it's advisable to select seeds before planting.

Food production really needs good seed selection to help produce quality farm produce.

What will be your steps to produce safer crops

❤️Introducing crop rotation and selection method
As a good farmer it's expected to practice crop rotation and selection whereby changing crops every planting year to help reduce certain crop diseases.

❤️Serving the crops with manure and fertilizers
Compost manure and good quality fertilisers are so beneficial for plant growth and good quality produce.

❤️Educating yourself more about Agriculture and planting
Ignorance plays a very negative role in human's life especially in agriculture it's advisable to get wider knowledge about what you want to do, how the process goes about to.

❤️Observing crop growth
Taking notes of plant growth signs can help you produce safer crops. Some crops are uprooted through observing crop growth.

What is the best time to plant the crop you want to grow and after how long will you get the harvest?

The best time to grow maize crop is before raining season being January ending. Maize crop doesn't take that long to produce fruit, it should be about 70 days to yield fruits. We can't go a year without growing maize because it's highly productive over here, it's used to make pap, cornflakes,corn soup and so many.

What inspires you to be involved in productive work
Being productive is very essential here in my country, you have to work to have alot to eat. Farming is almost every man work here including the rich and poor so that alone will tell you to work productively. Working productively will bring food to the table, income and revenue for the growth of the nation.

In conclusion, seed selection is very essential in producing safer food helping in growing disease free crops.
