Greetings everyone it's a pleasure to post in this community, and my appreciation goes to @edgargonzalez for organising this superb contest. I'm also inviting @pea07 @rubina203 @moyeon and @Josepha to join the contest.

⭐️How do you know when a product is in harvest season?

To know when a product is in harvest season, we need to look at several factors. One important factor is geographic location, which influences harvest times because of varying climates and farming methods. Additionally, different types of crops have their own specific harvest times, such as berries, which are ready in the summer, and apples, which are typically harvested from late summer to fall.

Growing calendars from agricultural organizations highlight typical planting and harvest times for various crops in different regions. Engaging with local farmers or markets can provide valuable insights about harvest times in your area. Weather conditions play a role, too, as warm springs can lead to earlier harvests, while cooler, wetter summers may cause delays. Additionally, signs of ripeness, such as colour, size, firmness, and taste, help indicate when fruits and vegetables are ready.

⭐️What factors can influence harvest time?

Harvest time is affected by many factors. Environmental factors like climate, soil, and location influence crop growth and when they can be harvested. Biological factors such as the type of crop and its health also determine readiness for harvest. Economic factors, including market demand, available labour, and storage options, are key in deciding when to harvest. Advances in technology can make harvesting easier and more efficient. Additionally, regulations and community customs can influence harvesting decisions.

⭐️What fruits are currently being harvested in your community?

It's the seasoning of African pear, called ube in Igbo, is also known as bush pear or butter fruit. It is commonly eaten with roasted or boiled corn and has many health benefits. The botanical name for this very fruit is called Dacryodes edulis. It is rich in vitamins and minerals and is believed to have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. This fruit is currently in season, coinciding with the corn harvest.

⭐️Can these harvested products be sold at the same price as when they are not in harvest season?

During the harvest season, prices for products drop because they are readily available, making it hard for sellers to sell at high prices. After the season, prices increase sharply as products become harder to find. Sellers raise prices knowing supply is low, leaving buyers with little choice but to pay the higher prices.
