The importance of the monsoon season is immense in Bangladesh and all over the world. Among all the elements used in agriculture, the most important element is water. Cultivation cannot be thought of without water. Water is needed in all aspects of soil preparation, planting, and seedling growth. This water requirement is met from the rainwater that falls during the monsoon season. As a result of rain, nature regains its new form. New leaves grow on trees, flowers bloom, the water requirement of fields and farms is fulfilled, and the yield of vegetables increases. This benefits land cultivation. The benefits of irrigation systems are not realized. Soil fertility increases. Ponds, canals, and canals are filled with water. As a result, fishermen get the benefit of fish farming. The rainy season is a blessing for agriculture and wildlife. Nature becomes clean, dust and sand are reduced, the intensity of the sun decreases, and the environment remains cool.

Discuss the problems we observe in the agricultural sector due to flash floods resulting from excessive rainfall.

Rain is a blessing for us. However, excessive rain causes a lot of damage to us. Due to excessive rain, we often face natural disasters. Which causes a lot of damage to our agriculture. Due to floods, the soil becomes muddy. As a result, the soil loses its usefulness for cultivation. Fields and ghats are submerged in water. Salt water from rivers or seas destroys the fertility of the land. Farmers are financially affected and cannot cultivate again. When seeds are planted, they are destroyed. Tree seedlings are destroyed. The crops of the land are destroyed. The prices of all crops increase after floods.

Please share your views on the problems we see in agriculture due to drought and excess rainfall.

  • Drought

Drought and excessive rainfall are two causes of great damage to our agriculture. Due to drought, the soil becomes hard. The soil of the land cracks. When seeds are planted, the seedlings cannot germinate. The seedlings of the trees get waterlogged. The groundwater level drops, resulting in disruption of the irrigation system. Crop production decreases. Farmers are financially affected due to disruption of crop production. Sometimes there is a possibility of food shortage and famine.

  • Excessive rainfall

Excessive rainfall causes waterlogging, resulting in difficulty in preparing the land for crops. The seeds and seedlings of the crops rot. Various diseases, pests and insects increase. Weed growth increases. The soil moves away from the roots of the trees. Occasionally floods and natural disasters occur. As a result, farmers are financially affected.
