Discuss past and present methods from land preparation to harvesting.

The past agricultural methods from land preparation to harvesting were straightforward and time consuming as well. The manual tools were supposed to be used and the machines made of wood or metal were dragged by animals like buffaloes and camels for the land preparation. The seeds were used to be planted either by hand distribution or seed drills. The natural rainfall or other ways like persian wheel or buckets were the sources of irrigation. The weeding was simply done by hand and the pest control was dependent on ash or plant extracts. For harvesting sickles and knives were used and for threshing the animals have to walk over to separate the grain from the soil.

The present methods of agriculture are efficient and mechanised. The fields are prepared more quickly and with more efficiency due to the use of modern tractors. The planters are used for harvesting which ensured the right position and distribution for a better crop growth. Sprinklers, drip irrigation are examples of irrigation where the water is used less but the result is more effective. To reduce the need for manual labour weeding is done with spraying techniques and motorised weeders. Artificial insect killers and the pest management techniques are used for pest control and to improve crop protection.

Advantages and disadvantages of using previous and current equipment used in agricultural work.

The advantages of older agricultural equipment is that they were affordable, easy to repair environmental friendly. Local farmers use these equipment to maintain soil health but they have limited production because they are very time consuming, challenging and they also generate less income.
On the other hand the modern equipment is extremely useful. It increases productivity, saves time and also lower the needs of manual labour. It also allows farmers to manage greater areas and get better results. After the advantages it has also disadvantages as it is very costly to buy and maintain the machinery, it also requires technical expertise to operate and control. It also leads to high fuel consumption and soil damage if it is not operated properly.

Do you think the use of improved technology in agriculture has led to an increase the crops price?

There are two perspectives and I will discuss both of them. On one hand modern farming requires a large financial investment for expensive machinery, fuel, chemicals and quality seeds. Crop prices can also increase as result of consumers frequently taking the cost of these higher production expenses. However using modern technology in large scale farming results in increased efficiency and revenue. Prices in competitive markets can also drop as a result of market overload by this increased in supply. Therefore the production scale, market demands all have a significant impact on how new technology affects agricultural pricing.

Many people think that the abundance of crops in the market has increased but the taste has decreased, do you agree?

Many people agree that crop production is increased and the quality has decreased. Modern variety of crops are often developed for size, good shelf life and easy transport rather than taste. Plus excessive chemical use can also impact soil which have an indirect impact on crop quality and taste. Fast growing cycles are meant to increase output but also prevent flavours from growing naturally. Although they are less common in large scales markets and are often more difficult for consumers to find. Some farmers continue to grow traditional and more flavourful crops.
