When is a Product in Season of Harvest?

Harvest times are recognized by a variety of means. First: By knowing what to plant when (and what to consider in terms of local weather). Every crop has a planting and harvest schedule. Take Indonesia for instance, it is common for its farmers to harvest its rice twice or thrice per year based on the region and type of paddy. Fruits tend to mature towards the end of the dry season (September-November for tropical fruits such as mango.

Second, field notes also has a value. The change that signals the harvest season is not the one in the calendar, but rather the change in seasonal signs such as a breed being common in traditional markets as many farmers start to harvest it. Third, local agricultural department or village farm households can be a reliable source of information.

Factors Affecting Harvest Time

There are several variables that can affect the aging process of an agricultural product. The main ones are:
Type of crop – Not all crops can be grown for the same period. 1) Climate and weather – The presence or absence of rain has significant implications for yield (it seems this doesn’t need to be said). Heavy rain can promote or destory a crop.
Pest/disease attacks – Pests can delay or damage the harvest period.

Fruits Currently Being Harvested in Communities

In many regions of Indonesia, from July to August, several fruits are entering the harvest season, including durian, rambutan, mangosteen, and snake fruit. Additionally, several types of vegetables, such as chilies and tomatoes, are also abundant in the market because the previous planting season was carried out at the beginning of the dry season.

Harvest Price vs Offseason Prices

In the wet season crops are usually sold for less because they are abundant. This is one of the first, and simplest, laws of economics: When the supply of a good grows faster than the demand for that good, the price of the good will fall. IN steepo Climate; those fruit and vegitables may be sold at higher prices off season, because of the scarcity. But this might be different if it was distributed and stored well or if it was packaged and sold as a premium product.

Through understanding the harvest rhythm, including associated influencing factors, people accordingly can at a minimum be better-informed when consuming and managing local agricultural products.
