Hello, how are you today? I suppose you are all fine as I am. I am glad to interact with you once again under the topic "Steem-Agro Drawing Contest 26: Agriculture Through Art". I appreciate @ahsansharif for organising this contest. May you enjoy every bit of this article.

We will want you to draw any plant or tree.
I have decided to draw a maize plant from its roots up to its tassels.

Show the steps taken until the last stage with an explanation.
Materials For Drawing

• Plain A4 paper
• Pencil colour
• Crayola

Step 1
I began by drawing the stalk of the plant which is a major part of the plant. It is the part that holds all other parts of the plant. I used a lemon green colour to draw that

Step 2
I drew the leaves of the plant using a dark green pencil colour.

Step 3
I used a green Crayola to re-colour the leaves. This is done purposely to have a clear and better colour. I began with the leaves on the right-hand side and then completed with the leaves on the left-hand side.

Step 4
Here, I coloured the roots of the plant. I used a grey crayola, green Crayola and brown Crayola at this step.

Step 5
I drew the tassels of the plant. This is a part that looks like rice and is found at the top of a maize plant. I used a grey crayola to draw this part

Step 6
I drew the corn cop and the silk. Corn cob is the part that holds the corn or seed and the silk is the hairy part of the corn cob. I used green Crayola for the corn cob and brown Crayola for the silk.

The importance of the maize plant can not be overemphasised. Its importance can be discussed in this subheading:

• Nutritional value: Maize is a source of food for man and animals animals which can be cooked in different ways. It primarily provides the body with fibre, carbohydrates and vitamins.
• Economic importance: Maize can serve as a source of income and is used as raw materials in the production of animal feed, biofuels, starch, cornflakes, alcohol etc.
• Other important of the maize plant are: The leaves are food for some animals and can be used as herbs to treat certain sicknesses.
