Before we get into the main questions of the day, let's try to paint a scene in our mind. In a certain piece of land, there were huge trees all inside this piece of land. All of a sudden, the place is proposed to be a residential area. Then, all the trees were cut off but the land was utilized immediately. In that scenario, we can see the situation of deforestation.

My Understanding about Deforestation

Deforestation is the process of cutting down trees from a piece of land or farmyard due to several reasons. We all know that we can't cut down trees without a viable reason. One of the major reasons is usually land development. When development is setting into an area, trees that existed there will be cut down. The development aspect might be building or road construction. Despite these reasons, one might ask if there are any side effects of this action. My quick answer is Yes and let's find out in the next answer.

What are the dangers of deforestation?

As I said earlier, there are known dangers of deforestation. Let's look at them quickly.

• Soil erosion: The trees stood as natural defense to the soil. But when it is being cut down, the soil is left bare exposing it to various elements of erosion. Sooner or later, the soil begins the process of erosion.
• Greenhouse emission or climate change: Do you know that trees are one of the active suppliers of oxygen. When these active suppliers are down, other non-essential gases fill the air causing greenhouse emission.
• Desertification: When the soil is left bare for a while, the surviving crops might not endure the scorching sun. So, when it dies off, the process of desert making is just beginning. This is due to cutting down trees that exist in that land.

How can deforestation be reduced?

To prevent deforestation, I think we should take these steps into consideration.

• Plants more trees. If a tree was cut down, we should plant two more trees to replace the fallen hero.
• Reduce dependency on trees due to other daily needs. Sometimes we need trees to serve different purposes like firewood, books, etc. But we have the power to recycle our environment instead of cutting down trees.
